Fault

FAULT, n. One of my offenses, as distinguished from one of yours, the latter being crimes.

2007 Update: The essential feature of California's geography, absent from her demography.

Fault: a quality in high supply, but low demand.

Ouch! Those memory faults hurt!

Iceland has one also going right through the middle of the island. Did you know that Iceland in Icelandic is Island?....same meaning.

It wasn't me either *points finger at neva*
And I don´t know what they did, but I am inclined to blame continental rifts!

And Móa, yes I knew that! *grins*

Bierce's was good, yours is great. Nice work, Doug.

Fault: A trait plentiful and obvious here, yet somehow much easier to find when sought elsewhere.

Fault - A synonym for the term "blame". As in' "I'm not going to play the blame game." Or, "I'm not going into the fault vault."

A corruption of "common sense".

fault that blemish of face and figure which glares from every woman's mirror once she passes the age of six.

I believe I took OC's verifier: seiweid (though, considering the spelling, it could be Boy's)

Fault... baaawaahhhhhhhhhhh!

Don't get me started on this one, if you know what I mean, and I know, that you know, that I know, that you know, that I know, that you know.......... WTF I'm talking about here!!!!! !@#$%^&@

This is all your fault!!!

That was one of the good things about growing up in a large family, it was always somebody else's fault!

Penguin... me?? *feigns stunned look* i just GOT here! what'd i do?? what'd i do?? yeesh. serves me right for showing up late again. sigh.

Fault: A tree blocking one's view of the forest.

I suppose making today's word Fault is our curmudgeon host's way of taking ownership for his delay in opening the gates to my intellectual playground this morning.

(Snuppy, I LOVE your forrest definition - bravo!)

Happy Friday, all!

I don't live in California, so that makes me faultless

Can I use Mutha's line from yesterday?

I fault the law and the law won. (Yeah but I was right and the law was wrong.)

I am honored TLP!

California: It's a fault world after all.

Indie, sounds like there's a quality problem.

Elbot, don't be short.

Boy, it was probably an earthquake. I'm sure your mom will understand.

Mo'a, then I'm glad Iceland isn't on an isthmus.

Minka, that Neva! You poor thing.

Al, fault must be a form of fertilizer, since it's thicker where the grass is greenest.

Poobah, one of my phrases in politics is "blame game." Yellow on the terror chart means "plausiblly deniable" while blame game is for orange.

Quilly, men spend their whole lives trying to remedy the cruelties of women's mirrors.

Sacada, that's spelled "D."

Karen, would you like me to write your comment for today? It's Bushie Boy's fault we're bogged down in Iraq and the world hates us. How'd I do?

G, it only takes three to make a conspiracy and a scapegoat.

Puppybrose, that was just a brilliant definition. I forgive you for what you did, although you are old enough to know better.

Happy Friday, Sar. To be honest, after oversleeping by two hours I wasn't thinking that well but let's just say you're right.

Karma, I knew you were faultless two years ago.

TLP, plagiarism is the sap in my veins.

Haha, Mutha. That's the devil's earworm, though.

G said...

Doug, but if you multiply that by 3.33, imagine the intrigue...or fistfights.

yer too kind, Doug, with a brilliant mind! :+)

I LOVE to see the San Andreas fault
as it is a stunning show of the Earth's great forces in action.

FAULT, n. Edsel Murphy's storage facility. Poorly guarded.

Yes, I too have done my time,
Livin' on the fault line,
On all my shelves a'stringin' line,
And doobie doo-ing all that rhyme ...

It's not my fault that I have no faults.

G, I topped off at 7 siblings but I was making my mischief outside the home by the time we reached 4.

Right, a4g. Left of the 405 and north or south of the Santa Monica fault zone?

Thanks, Karen. I like to think I'm a listener.

Mo'a, things are trending the opposite way, I'm told.

Sure is, Terry. If that doesn't humble you, you probably make earthquake movies for a living.

OC, are you talking about the China Grove?

Icy, for some reason you just reminded me of a Doonesbury cartoon from the 80's where a dog is pointing at someone and thinking "J'accuse!"

Dddragon, you're supposed to be blaming the girls by now. They're 16 and it probably actually is their fault.

Cie Cheesemeister said...

Fault:
Something in which The Cheesemeister is, of course, almost completely lacking, her only fault being her inability to find fault with herself.

(seriously kidding)

TLP said...

What's Fault's favorite film?
A Streetcar Blamed Desire.

Dumb, huh? It's not my bloody fault.

Jamie Dawn said...

Doug: Forgive me in advance; I'm in a potty humor mood.

Do you have a dark, dank, musty crack?

It is the fault's fault.

I suggest you get properly insured before your crack enlarges.

There's a condition called "fault creep" and it is an act of God, much like a flood or hurricane or lightning strike. See Hollister, CA for more info.

Letting one's crack go, will only lead to disaster.

(This message has been brought to you courtesy of JD's Crack Insurance. "It's your fault if your crack gets the best you!")

It's not my fault I like nuts

Doug The Una said...

But, a4g, well, there's no easy way to say this but, um, isn't that in Orange County?

Cheesemeister, it's not your fault. You just need more self-esteem and prozac and stuff.

That TLP! You do make me laugh.

JD,it's late to forgive you in advance. Is now ok? And do you cover blue jeans?

Actonbell, that was Wednesday. It's Friday. Time to move on.

My Squirrel cousin, I suppose you blame your parents.

Lila said...

See? More fault finding!

Hey, it's 7:21 TLP ST. Where's (and what's) the story???

Anonymous said...

uh... er... what the...? did that pesky San Andreas fault wreak havoc in Southern California again? for surely that can be the only explanation for the extreme lateness of your Saturday post, Shirley.

G said...

The queueue is forming...

Anonymous said...

Shirley! i knew you'd have my back (actually, as you can see, i saved you a place in the queueue-et-tu line) i'm guessing Diogenes got lost -- or arrested, i mean, he's been running around like a naked fool for several weeks now, it was bound to happen eventually.

Doug The Una said...

Way to double down, AP3!

My fault, Actonbell. It was Friday night, and sometimes a boy's just gotta stay up and blog!

Puppy, can we call it a tectonic nap?

G, did you take a number?

Puppy, you can't keep a good philosopher down. I mean, until 6:30 or so, I guess you can.
