The Roots of Truth

Episode 23 of The Meditations of Diogenes The Cynic. Thanks to the Washington Area Historical Organization for Ornamental Stilettos (WAHOOS) for this week's reading

To hear the story, grab a munchkin.

This week in The Prattler, "The Giuliani Inaugural." Ours is an uncertain world for the indefinite.

Read the story to Diogenes.

Wahoos, I'm happy to be first, honest.

Diogenes is related to a horse?

WAHOOS? woohoo! pretty sure i know this gorgeous reader. "worse than a broken leg for maddening" was pretty darn funny, too! (way to pacify the "ugly", i mean, i know I'm happy!)

well done oh "you-in-the-stilettos-who's-name-rhymes-with-hair (and pretty/curly hair, at that!) and YOU, oh "writer-of-naked-truth-seekers-in-search-of-truth-not-Mary-and-who's-name-rhymes-with...um, rug" (sometimes a substitute for hair, not that you need one).

*claps enthusiastically*

BRAVO!

Families do tend to make one wander off muttering to one's self ....

Woohoo for Wahoos!

Doug, if that lion is honest, next week's episode must be the last.

Yep, Puppy, it's gotta be the highheeled one.

Good job with the reading. Good story line.

Akin: describing folks you're allowed to show skin to.

Moi? All I can say is...

WoototheWahoo!

(especially after just noticing the posting time of today's story!!!).

You gotta love a story about an obtuse philosopher who unapologetically refuses to remain clothed while travelling and staring directly into the red eyes of a preditor. If I didn't know any better, I'd say this author hearts danger!

Nessa, of course.

Ariel, who fools old women?

Thanks, Neva. I actually could probably use one.

We'll see, Quilly.

TLP, that must be a Pez thing.

Sar, thanks again for another fine reading.

And Sar is also a matchmaker? And who's Mary? Is she cute? Do you like her? Is this a possibility? Is there anyway to embarrass you more about the unseemly bachelorhoodiness of it all? xoxo

Doug: it seems to be Diogenes' thing.

akin, runner up American Idol 2003

Woohoo for the wahoos!

Sar, nice acting job as I "knew" it was you but then I had to rethink "is that really Sar?" Really nice reading - I'll bet the kids love their bedtime stories read by you.

Doug, the saga continues and takes yet another twist. I like what Quilly noted above about the lion and honesty. This may draw more viewers than the last Sopranos!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. we'll be at the Bronx Zoo where I'll pay special attention to the lions.

Mireille, you don't get to be a bachelor at Diogenes' age if you're easy to shame.

Senegoid Sartre Pez, TLP?

Minka, I know not this man of whom you speak, but I sure like the second definition. Good n' true.

Thanks, G. Give a good Bronx cheer to a great ape for me.

I totally forgot to mention that I loved Sar´s reading. When you mention a stiletto...any guesses are basically out the window ;)

Have I ever mentioned that i think you are amazing with dialogue writing? Which is odd, given your anti-social dispositon, and your growling in between...

Wonderful job, Sar! Doug gave it away with the WAHOOS and all. :-)

Doug! You left us on a REAL cliffhanger!!!!

As Diogenes left his akinfolk behind him, I think Barbaro and Sophia were staring at his buttocks. So was his auntie.

Warning - it's a groaner.
Akin: Looking upon something unpleasant that causes pain to the eyes, hence the eyes are akin (achin').

Minka, my thinking has been that the second time someone reads, I wouldn't bother hiding who it is. Then the first second-time reader brought a friend and I made up an organization for her to belong to and I'm sticking with that until I realize how lame it is.

Actonbell, I'm pretty sure it's there.

JD, I think I'm getting the hang of this serial stuff. Cliffhangers are like chocolate truffles. They affect you no way so much as to make you want another.

the first second time-reader brought a daughter, didn't she? :-P

You're right, Ariel. I guess I started making up organizations for the second second reader.
