Photograph

PHOTOGRAPH, n. A picture painted by the sun without instruction in art. It is a little better than the work of an Apache, but not quite so good as that of a Cheyenne.

2010 Update: Once art, once history, once evidence, now imposition.

Now everywhere. Each and every little moment is photographed by cell phone or whatever, and posted somewhere.

And yet. I love them. Love to look back.

Too bad a hand covers half of the figures in that photograph.

Photograph is one evidence that you only have to open the door a little, and the invisible world will immediately communicate with you, it doesn't matter if you wear rich clothes or nothing, if you are dirty or clean, if you use your hands or a shutter or the keys of a keyboard of a computer.

PHOTOGRAPH, n. Expressions From One's Eyes

No Thom. Not "Cry (Tears Of) 'Havoc!". More so like Sitting Bull's "War Cry" when he annihilated Gen. George Custer at the Battle of Little Big Horn.

Doug, that isn't art, it is a message or story written in hieroglyphics.

Thanks to the Iternet you could translate the parts not covered by the hand using on-line translators.

It is much better than either that of the Apache or the Cheyenne having stood the test of time, over 6000 years.

Look at this photograph
Every time I do it makes me laugh
how did our eyes get so red?
And what the hell is on Joey’s head?

TLp, you're just right. They are so prevalent that you want to hate them but they're fun.

Amoeba, that did make me a little wistful. Not that I knew a thing about it but I was sorry to hear it was gone.

Ariel, it's true, particularly of your photography. And silent expressions can be the clearest expressions.

Pia, I'm not on Facebook but that's my impression. Facebook seems to be where you live the life you wish your friends thought you had. And where your friends pretend to make that wish come true.

Thom, that's kind of poetic for you. It's only funny when I consider some of the photos you've put up recently.

Karen, I have no idea what you're saying but I hear hoofbeats in the distance.

Jim, is there an internet translator for hieroglyphics?

That's why you won't find me there, Actonbell. I prefer to stay in Los Angeles, where people have some privacy.

Funny, Cooper. Never heard that myself.

Time for a new shoe pic, Bear,, don't you think?

Emphatically spoken - YES!! Some of my best pictures are those of shoes - especially fondly reminiscent of those IN them. When shall we do it again?
