  2. Recommendation, I won't do it, you will.

  3. Recommendations are like obligations.
Have you ever been in a restaurant with someone and asked them what they recommend?
If you don't order what they recommend, it's kind of like you're poo pooing their recommendation. It's like you're saying, "You suggested the boiled ham, but that sounds nasty, so I'm ordering the barbecued ribs."
Or you might actually order the boiled ham and choke it down just BECAUSE they recommended it.
At Chandra, I recommend the pad thai noodles.

  6. Recommendations don't mean much if they're good. But if they're bad....

    That seems very unfair.

  10. Recommendations are seldom to be followed unless they're made by Dick Cheney and ...
Like when you don't know what to do by your own half baked idea.

  11. Bear, it seems Icelanders put a big premium on getting here first. I guess it's the inner volcano.

I'll take that as a suggestion, Ariel.

JD, I'm happy to take your recommendations on supper. I know it will either bring me In n' Out or Chandra.

Amoeba, as in "We recommend you consider your future?"

Right around the corner, Terry. No, the next corner.

    TLP, fairness is not recommended.

Icy, Willie recommends Bootsy minds her own business.

    Quilly, that last is consulting.

Nessa, I should take that recommendation.

By recommendations, Jim, you mean the constitution?

  12. TLP - actually the good recommendation, these days, does mean something. It means the recommender is anxious to get rid of the recommendee. While the bad recommendation can mean "I ain't letting this person go, no way, no how; she's too good."

It's a mad mad mad mad world ...
