Rime

RIME, n. Agreeing sounds in the terminals of verse, mostly bad. The verses themselves, as distinguished from prose, mostly dull. Usually (and wickedly) spelled "rhyme."

2010 Update: A roadmap locating winter for the house-bound.

  1. Once again I'm first with absolutely nothing to say; no rime or reason (using Briece's definition)

This year even the housebound didn't need a roadmap locating winter in much of the country and Europe

  2. Rime: "Hard rime is a white ice that forms when the water droplets in fog freeze to the outer surfaces of objects. It is often seen on trees atop mountains and ... " (Wikipedia)

That's what Google found for me.
You have a nice weekend too!

  4. THOM: No.

The ship was cheered, the harbour cleared,
    Merrily did we drop
Below the kirk, below the hill,
    Below the lighthouse top.

  6. T'was a crime to put the "H" in rime. (Never mind changing "I" to "Y".)

  7. No rime. No reason.
    No rhyme, even.

I do have spaghetti though -- with homemade sauce. Can you be here by dinner time?

  8. I have always loved the word hoarfrost... rime is only almost as good.

    Nice poetic update.

  10. Nope, Pia, I hear it came right to you.

Why you do the same, Jim.

Actonbell, there are only so many things you'll find when you're always looking into fish.

Thom, that's more or less exactly right.

Karen, I'm gonna guess that was Coleridge?

Nicole, I often try to force a rhyme, but the words misuse me every time.

    But, TLP, why even try?

Quilly, I received that comment just as I was twirling some spaghetti of my own. Buon appetito!

    Good memory, Sauerkraut. Yes, indeed.

Crow and Bear, it looks like two of my favorite forest creatures are back. Welcome home. (And I agree about hoarfrost and rime.)
