Efferous
EFFEROUS, EFFIGATE, EFFLAGITATE, EFFODIENT, EFFOSSIAN. See some other dictionary.
2010 Update: EFFEROUS, adj. Beastlike, undomesticated, as anyone who expects a blend of unfamiliar phonemes to sound cultivated. See also: ERUDITE.
EFFEROUS, adj. Males with empty bellies and women with nothing better to do than belittle others.
Or perhaps the travelers who missed the airport shuttle, paid big time for a taxi ride to SeaTac, and then endured an over-packed flight, a delayed transfer, a screaming match between the pilot and ground crew -- all in a sleepless 20 hour time frame.
I meant to tell you, I really enjoyed reading your Fly Away blog. A cruise is a wonderful way to spend the Christmas holiday! I used to live in Charleston. Your pictures beautifully capture the city's ambiance. I've haven't been to Key West yet. We used to have a Sloppy Joe's here, but it closed down. The Hemingway theme didn't really catch on.
Oh. Devil's Dictionary, makes me spitting mad, efferous. :( .. Mrs. Jim and I want to visit Key West. We drove half way down the Keys one time but we turned around and came back. That's a long boring road. It all reminds me of the El Paso desert area with more water. ..
Eff-in-great!
ReplyDeleteRnPB Update
errerous - Overcome by the impulse to tell people "eff-you!".
ReplyDeleteNessa and OP stole my effin' thunder!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE yesterday's word! I am a big fan of eating.
When it comes to eating good food, I am efferous.
:-)
Both you and Bierce are hilarious. Efferous brings out the sly humor of the sometimes erudite
ReplyDeleteEfferous: Old Mother Hubbard's dog because he was effing hungry!!
ReplyDeleteEffin-A definition by both you guys. I'm P.O.ed at myself for missing yesterday. Eating is what I do best. Right up there with sleeping.
ReplyDeleteDefined like a true Administrator, Doug!
ReplyDeleteUndomesticated phonemes unfamiliar with sounding cultivated:
ReplyDeleteuneducated, uninformed, unthinking, unschooled, unlettered, untaught
DiFFident.
ReplyDeleteThe hardest part for making the Lammy blog is getting the phonemes to work properly.
