Folks, here's the story 'bout Minnie The Moocher (in print.)

Today's story is cross-posted on Doug Drones On where Doo-Doo Man of The Pansi Files will tell his own story.

Tomorrow there will be a special Sunday edition to say Happy Birthday to two of my favorite people.

  1. Awkward: wards going 'awk' at the slightest demonstration of maternal love which is unconditional and forever and the only real love they will ever get from anyone. it is to be honoured, everything else is maya.

you have a great mom, darling, she obviously needs you around specially at special moments.

and Cad has a great set of teeth

  3. I can only hope my children treat me so well in the years to come. Now, I get dragged to concerts against my will - awkward! Very nice story, Doug. :)

  4. Great story. We all need someone to hold us back from doing something we may later be ashamed of. You were a nice anchor and that was a really awkward moment. But a wonderful memory. Very well told.

  5. You had it right the first time, Karma.

Right, Sar, I imagine involving one's kids and The Backstreet Boys would be similar.

Thanks, Icy. Yup. It was. The music was amazing, though.

  6. Hmmm ... which is worse - using your kid as an anchor or sinking? I think mine might help me overboard! ('course, sometimes I wouldn't be able to blame them!)

awkward? I feel totally inept, clumsy and to gauche today...definitions will be prompted by others.

  9. Actonbell, I'm usually the anchor.

Dddragon, I'm sure they'd follow you through the Stargate.

Thanks, Monika. You don't seem like any of the above but I'll offer a raincheck.

Thanks Alice, she is a nice mother.

Anchor, schmankor! Thanks for the memory son. As I tried to tell you years ago, Cab and I were so similar..both over-the-top type A personalities with astonding first borns to follow in our footsteps. The only difference I could note then and now were the choppers. His child got his and you got mine, poor Doug. Oh well, here's to all of us being able to smile while being hit on and singing about some "hootchie cootcher!"

What a nice son you are. But Freud would have a field day.

  13. I'm sure your mom would be overwhelmed with joy to receive a big bear hug from her non-affectionate son.
I hope you will see to that right away.

The story was a sweet one. I think she feared she would melt away if she didn't hold on to you.

  14. Glad you liked the sotry, Mama.

Weirsdo, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Freud's dead.

Next time I'm in Portland, JD.

  18. This was a wonderful narrative. I wanted to be told a story so I listened to the audio version rather than reading it. You also don't know what a great Cab Calloway fan I am.

  19. My mother is a tolerant woman, Mireille. The fact that I'm here to type this is all the proof you need.

Aral! You'll grow up tomorrow, right?

Karma, as another of my favoritist people, I assume you'll let me know?

Thanks, Indie. Me too. That is necessarily so.
