Archbishop

ARCHBISHOP, n. An ecclesiastical dignitary one point holier than a bishop.
If I were a jolly archbishop,
On Fridays I'd eat all the fish up —
Salmon and flounders and smelts;
On other days everything else.
—Jodo Rem
2008 Update: An ecclesiastical grand duke to whom it falls to implement GOD's plans for the Pope.

I am tempted to say I am first! But I wont! :)

I did not know this...I am Lutheran...surprise, surprise...most Scandinavians are :)
Doug as I write this I can see 14 Jolasveinar almost half way there counting Grila, Lepaludi and the Cat.
As I work I sometimes wonder if I bit off more than I can chew...Nah!!! I am a Viking and have a Viking work ethic...at least that is what I keep telling myself.

ARCHBISHOP, n. Zone manager for McDonald's. Speaking of God ...

I like mutha's definition. It made me grin.

Archbishop: like an Abbess or Abbot, but holding more power.

In high school my senior year, I got the role of Mother Abbess in Sound of Music. When it came down to it, I was told I'd not be able to do the part AND play softball. I chose softball and ended up singing in the chorus since it required less rehearsals. I played pitcher & short stop and never regretted my decision. The tomboy in me won.

Archbishop: Augustine, Archbishop of Canterbury is the only one of these guys I can remember of vaguely.

We now have one for Galveston, Texas, but all his subjects have either washed away or left for higher ground.

Sadly, some of today's archbishops look like they continute to eat everything else.

Well resisted, amhsirak!

Mo'a, I think a Viking work ethic means you find someone else with Jolasveinar and take theirs.

Hi, Pia. Does it feel like molting?

Karma, how do sticks come into this?

TLP, they all do.

And the reddest by far, Mutha.

Amoeba, that was excellent.

May it always, JD. Which part do you think you'd sing today?

Jim, I pray a better memory but not yet.

Sauerkraut, I want a shepherd I can have a beer with.

But not fabulous, Actonbell?

Excellent point, Terry. They don't get enough credit for that, in my opinion.

That's some void, Bear.

Ironic names turn up everywhere, don't they, Coop?

Uh... was there a dog in Sound of Music?

I could play a mute nun pretty well, I think.
