Tachyplanetera

At December's ebb, we mull and count
Our datebooks' recent pages
As the world completes an orbit more
And the mirror brusquely ages.
But why look back as new dawn breaks?
Why not look brightly out instead?
Toward our regrets next New Year's Eve
If we're not already dead.

NOSTALGIA, n. Analgesia applied to healed wounds.

Tachyplanetera: Nice work, Doug! and excellent advice.
Besides, you are the only one in the world to use that word, Tachyplanetera, according to Google.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Love this Doug. You say what too many of us think but refuse to believe

I am looking forward! Homeward bound ...

On the other hand, nostalgia is what dampens my enthusiasm. I remember too much ... Still, even returning to the mainland, I am keeping a mountain range between most of my family and I. ;)

Brilliant. I look at it this way, it can't be any worse than what we just came through. :) Happy New Year!!

Why, Thom, keeping in mind that it could always be worse can be a source of optimism. :)

Love your definition, Doug! The poem is funny. Some things never change, huh?

and salt doesn't bother healed wounds nor the dead.

I say now, a more proper New Year's Eve toast there never was ...

Toward our regrets!

For some strange reason that cheered me significantly.

Of course, Jim. It was a typo. I meant to spell that Chronoplanetoi.

Pia, I try to say what I refuse to believe.

Quilly, when you get home, you'll wake up and realize that you had in Hawai'i, you have in Washington and Thom was really just the scarecrow.

Cheers, Thom.

That's how I'll probably remember them, Ariel.

Tom, that's why I put some in the spaghetti water.

Cheers, Karen.

Ariel, sometimes I think Tom is the world's wisest verifier.

You're twisted, Cooper. Happy new year.

Looking forward to new horizons and new changes doesn't seem to be a common human trait.

Doug The Una said...

Perfectly put, Nicole. No, it doesn't seem to be a common human trait.
