I trust you are doing better today?
Trust: Often promised but rarely given; a commitment more fragile than a house of cards in the middle of a Hurricane. Its disappearance often preceeded by the proverbial "vote of confidence."
Trust. That is why the Cyclops is king in the valley of the blind.
Trust: the often justified, tho' frequently misguided belief that "what you see *is* what you get".
on a more, (dare i say it? i dare! i dare!) *optimistic* note:
“To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved.” ~George MacDonald
Trust...when combined with the word "me" becomes one of the scariest phrases in the english language.
"Love all, but trust a few!"
Better what, Minka? Hey, you were first!
Well done, Joel.
See there, Icy, and I thought it was because he had the only mirror.
Brian, I think the revolutionaries had that carved into the guillotine.
Puppytoes, that sounds right.
Joel, it's the first sign of a scoundrel. The second is using your dog's picture as your own.
Do wrong to none, Minka. I mean on your blog.
I think trust makes us selfish.
It's the only thing we expect in return when we give it.
A little given is a little received.
We can love and not expect to be loved in return although we want it.
Trust though. That's a give-give take situation. It's why it hurts so much when it is broken. And hurts so much when it is given.
It takes courage to say "trust me". And it takes courage for the other party to say yes. That's what makes it so scary.
Trust. It's what it all comes down to, isn't it? Very, very scary. But so very, very worth it.
ra
"In God we trust." But we buy insurance and take vitamins just in case.
Trust is but a superstition.
"Trust me" Yiddish for **** you.
a friend in sheep's clothing
TLP, you win!!!
owywr: yes, writing hurts
Trust: The new religion with lots of false prophets.
TRUST, n. The hermit, in utero.
Sign on many a shop window in the days before the magic plastic:
In God we trust. All others pay cash.
Ever wonder how In God We Trust managed to show up on the coinage of a nation with a strict separation of church and state? Salmon Chase would have fit right in with the Bush Administration. Except that he had too much in the "brain" department. Maybe he would have been Colin Powell.
I would appreciate it if you could hold my spot here intrust . I have to slip out for a coffee. My brain is just buzzing and sputtering like a high voltage power line, downed in a storm. Lots of potential but with no place to go.
"I trust God speaks through me. Without that, I couldn't do my job." - George W. Bush
"I think the American people - I hope the American - I don't think, let me - I hope the American people trust me." - George W. Bush
I don't trust George W. Bush. And you can quote me on that.
(OC - great minds think alike, my friend)
Ok, several years ago I bought my parents a book, a biography of Mother Theresa. I started reading it in the bookstore and kind of got engrossed. Ok, I read the whole thing before I gave it to them! Why do I feel compelled to confess my sins to you people?
Anyway, there was a great quote in there that made me laugh. She was such an amazing woman. I couldn't remember the quote but managed to find it just now through googdle. Is very apropos today:
I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. Mother Theresa
oops-I guess googdle is the next version of google!
Trust -- The belief that there is a spoon maker..when in reality, there is no spoon.
Sorry Doug, I just had to!
Alright, made me think of one of this family's favorite movies.
Jack on the matter of trust:
"Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly stupid."
Trust: fragile expectation.
Integral component of authentic intimacy; "... but verify." xoxo
Trust: The word used most often in scary movies, just before someone dies.
trust - when easy comes, easy go, when hardly comes, easy go.
"Trust me" said the spider to the fly to which the fly laughed hysterically and said..."Dude...you're a spider. No-way." And flitted away heading for higher ground, while hoping a giant boot squished the spider.
And to make it happily ever after: the spider was squished and squished and smooshed and smooshed by my Ked. Perhaps that's why it's raining...again? Hm. He deserved to be squished and smooshed. I mean...he's a spider!
The End.
Hey - in my head, I make the stories my own. That way...I can't get sued.
TRUST: n. Organization of Petoleum Exporting Countries, (OPEC)

Good definition Doug!!! I'm not coming up with much but the words optimistic, ignorance, and unicorns keeps popping into my head. I'm not sure what all that means but it seems pretty profound.
Doug: Very cynical definition, but very true. Betrayal cannot happen without trust.
Whenever we trust, we open ourselves up for disappointment. If we trust nothing and no one, we never experience true intimacy. What a quandary.
You made me think too deeply on this one. When I stop by here later, I will have to lighten up to balance my comments out. :-)
YAY to Mireille for no cynicism! What is it about trust that causes y'all to mistrust so? Mon Dieu! Take out the dis p-lease and make things pure again!
P-LEASE! Can I trust you to do that??????
uryifxx~ U R Y I FiXate on X...
Hmmm... and X = ?
*sigh* That should read take out the "mis"... I am so losing my mind these days... I can not trust myself anymore...
fcxyrbx~ FocXY RuBX! WHERE? WHERE?
Angel, whoever you are, that was deep.
Sure, TLP. I believe you.
Haha, G. Thank you for translating.
Karma, you win! That was a great definition.
The profits are real, Indie.
O Ceallaigh, he wouldn't have lasted long then. I'm looking forward to reading that link.
Kyahgirl, there's always room in my computer for a spare battery.
Sar, next time I meet someone who thinks you trust G.W. I'll refer them to that comment. Thanks for going on record. I think he meant real Americans.
Kyahgirl, three hail marys and sin no more.
Village Idiot, you are THE ONE?
It's true, Logo. Like telling you what they think. Idiots! (No offense, Idiot)
Puppytoes, that's a nice and gentle definition.
Mireille, that's why insincerity serves me so well. Actually, you remind of a story. My neighbor, a single mother, came out of her house while I was getting in my truck. She threw up her hands and said "Why do men lie? Life would be so much easier if you guys would tell the truth!" I told her "Of course it would. For you."
Brian, that's how it is here on Tralfamador.
Princess, it's nice to see you back in costume. In movies?
Ariel, what happens when it hardly goes?
Right, Jenna, and you can trust them to reach a happy conclusion. Like killing Charlotte.
Or anyone with a no-bid government contract, Jake?
It does, Masil. The menagerie of faith. Hey see if I don't use that phrase one of these days.
And then what happened to the winged horse, Brian?
Thank you Jamie Dawn. The rest of today is dedicated to turtle talk.
Hermanita, you are Miz Trust.
I keep thinking of the Elvis Costello cover for his album "Trust" -- he has his very dark glasses pulled down just low enough to peek over with one eye, as if to question, "Trust me?"
Trust: Jumping to a place that may exist.
The vague glimmer of hope that the "Minute Men" will protect you.
trust - A state that is rusted from disuse.
Amen, Jamie Dawn!
Aint nothing wrong with trust... always try to start off with it. Of course it's when someone acts offended and asks "don't you trust me?" that I begin to lose it...
RoP trusts me fully. I will never betray that little turtle's trust. I have to protect him from my five year old neighbor, who has taken an interest in him.
I don't trust that little kid to be careful with RoP.
squaregirl: When you hear the words, "Don't you trust me?" it is time to start checking his collar for lip stick.
trust is inverted wishful thinking.
Jamie Dawn, ROTFL!!!
Jamie, when a man asks, 'Do you believe me or your own eyes?', and you don't say, 'I believe you.' anymore, then you know you've grown up.
Mutha, is there anything easier to mock than trust? Amazing.
You too, Brian.
That is vague, Mistress Anna.
That explains the rhyme, Ominpotent Poobah.
Squaregirl, that's just good timing.
Haha, Jamie Dawn. Here I thought we'd kept that secret.
Cooper, that's a great definition.
Ahead of most, Ariel.
what does "ahead of most" mean?
