Effect

EFFECT, n. The second of two phenomena which always occur together in the same order. The first, called a Cause, is said to generate the other — which is no more sensible than it would be for one who has never seen a dog except in the pursuit of a rabbit to declare the rabbit the cause of a dog.

2007 Update:  The neighbor's contribution to events.

Happy Birthday to my blogmama and a little lately to our favorite raven!

Yep, it's my birthday, the effect of having been born, and of traveling 'round the sun once again. And again. And again. And ...you get the general idea.

Happy Birthday TLP!

All this celebrating can have an effect on one's waistline, but to not partake would be rude. Pass the cake please.

Happy Happy Joy Joy to the one -- the only TLP.

“I think there should be something in science called the "reindeer effect." I don't know what it would be, but I think it'd be good to hear someone say, "Gentlemen, what we have here is a terrifying example of the reindeer effect."” ~Jack Handey

(sorry, couldn't resist)

PS -- and speaking of effects -- this new Blogger comment-section thing is not having a very good one on me. yeesh. ; )

TLP's birth and then subsequent marriage had a big effect on the blogosphere

Yes blogger comments now officially suck for non-Blogger users

Happy Birthday TLP! My apologies for not commenting on your site in recent weeks, but I guess they were testing the Google Exclusion System on you before they extended it to the rest of Bloggerland.

EFFECT, n. The trapdoor that awaits one who responds to an enticement. See "click here for your free iPod". Or "free" blog.

Ooh happy birthday TLP.

I had all these great examples in my head until I realized I was doing "affect" not effect. Thankfully I hesitated before I typed. For there would've been repercussions and that there is my effect! Yay me!

Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer

Grandma got run over by a reindeer
walkin' home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa.
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.

She'd been drinkin' too much egg nog.
And we'd begged her not to go.
But she'd forgot her medication,
and she staggered out the door into the snow.

When we found her Christmas mornin,'
at the scene of the attack.
She had hoof prints on her forehead,
And incriminatin' Claus marks on her back.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
walkin' home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and Grandpa, we believe.

Now were all so proud of Grandpa.
He's been takin' this so well.
See him in there watchin' football,
drinkin' beer and playin' cards with cousin Belle.

It's not Christmas without Grandma.
All the family dressed in black.
And we just can't help but wonder:
Should we open up her gifts or send them back?
(Send them back)

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
walkin' home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.

Now the goose is on the table.
And the pudding made of fig.
And a blue and silver candle,
that would just have matched the hair in Grandma's wig.

I've warned all my friends and neighbors.
"Better watch out for yourselves."
They should never give a license,
to a man who drives a sleigh and plays with elves.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
walkin' home from our house, Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
(Sing it Grandpa)

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
walkin' home from our house, Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and Grandpa, we believe.

And That's the Reindeer Effect.

You mean like Gin,,,,drunk.

I get it.

Google is going around deleting comments from people who are not using google names.

Cause = google

Effect = deleting everything they do not own.

Happy Birthday Blog Mama

I therefore call myself anonymous.

"cooper the anonymous" who refuses stands strong and proud in her refusal to let Gross Goodgle own her.

Not word one on Google sites regarding the Google Exclusion System, but Blogger Help is full of posts from the last day or three detailing login, posting, and all sorts of other issues affecting registered Googleites.

Ah, Wordpress, dear Wordpress. Two million blogs and counting. Must be the Blogger Effect.

Dddragon, marching bands definitely cause fudge. Delighted you were first to wish your mom a happy birthday here.

Karma, Queen of Effect, that's what we're talking about with the verifier.

How many times, TLP? Never guess it to look at you.

Which came first, Indie?

G, we'll give you the rose.

Very true, penguin.

Neva, I absolutely don't understand the new comment thing and don't think I was asked for permission. Jack Handey is always welcome to come with you.

Nonono, Pia. She was married first. How come you got to link?

Rub it in, Amoeba.

Well done, Jenn. I might not have known the difference, though.

Quilly, you'll always have a name here. We might not be able to read it.

Terry, would you forgive me for using a rushed morning as an excuse for tardiness?

Jamie Dawn, I made rain just by thinking of a jacket yesterday.

Cooper, way to make a stand. I can only admire from here.

Amoeba, there is no limit to how many links a man will click to be smug.

Thank you, High Priestess Ariel.

Thanks, Actonbell.

Mireille, that makes 70!

Icy, less so if you boil them.
