Redefining misanthropy for a fresh generation. Standard posts begin with a definition from Ambrose Bierce's The Devil's Dictionary followed by a modern adjustment. Miscellany on Wednesday and storytelling on Saturday.
This story has more twists and turns than all three Pirates of the Caribbean movies put together!!
Oh, how I WISH MY last name was Guadaloo!!
I checked out the Chicago plans blog yesterday. I don't think I'll join in on the meeting. I don't know people very well that visit here. I enjoy them all and their comments, but I don't have time to visit their blogs, so I have not gotten to know most of them. I know TLP & offspring and a few others, but that's it. I will be attending Blogstock '08 in July, and that will have to suffice my yearning to meet fellow bloggers.
Oh, I get it. Musical beetles. Humbugs. The curmudgeon got out of the Santa suit after all.
Hey. If they don't succeed on their Malay excursion, you can send them to midcoast Maine in search of singing clams. I might tell you 'bout them one of these days.
Yeah, Quilly, I found the beetles part very funny ("And one should play percussion." heh) because I was Christmas shopping in the afternoon, and Lennon sang in the mall, baby says she's mine, you know, she tells me all the time, you know, she said so, I was singing with him, then came home and read the beetles are going to come to the wedding party. Good!

So you are still alive? What kinda time is this for posting? Got caught in the Santa Suit and spent the night gnawing your way back out?!
... no boat can float laden with piety and no sail fills without laughter ... So True. xoxo

*clap clap* You are so darn clever my boy!
You know I love the beetles part.
So are those beetles going to sing, "She loves you yeah, yeah, yeah"?

I so now want to see the movie.
Let's hope they do a better job with it than the last "movie from the written word" I saw.
Minka, I thought I had until midnight, the 25th.
Really, Mireille. Would a sailor lie?
JD, you''ll be dearly missed but I figure as long as I live near In n' Out I'll get another chance. What is Blogstock '08?
Amoeba, I look forward to hearing about the singing clams of Maine and the drunken New Englanders who hear them.
TLP, your wish is my command. Which reminds me, this story's gonna need a Genie one of these days.
Quilly, they just might.
Ariel, that might be the perfect Christmas carol for the mall.
Cooper, I didn't manage to make the golden compass yet. A stronger endorsement and I mighta.
I can't wait to see the beetles' outfits. I hope they don't sing like cicadas.
Ah so that's what the churches are full of--sailors and thieves!
