Slow News Day

There is no evil in this world
Too small to be deplored
By candidates out on the trail
Or sinners when they're bored.

If we got rid of all the hypocrites in politics, there'd be no one left.

Doc Holliday in the movie Tombstone:
"It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds."

(Me LOVES this movie!! Val Kilmer ROCKS in this movie!!!!)

I have a link where one of the biggest hypocrites of all--not Karl--his alleged boss explains his reaction to Katrina among other things

You won't or will believe what he says in his own book

In a way maybe he's not a hypocrite--nobody can say these things with a straight face. Then again....

Someone, ooo, Thomas Jefferson I think, said the main effect of Christianity has been to make half the world fools amd the other half hypocrite but I think probably you can't blame Christianity for all of that. Even Ambrose called Christians only one subtribe of the Hypocrites.

Not wanting to be a hypocrite, I must say that I fully understand and relate to the poem. Let's just say it hits close to home.

Whew! I'm a woman so I'm not a hypocrite. (Too bad. I got the hips for it.)

Not being a hypocrite when I say, nice poem.

TLP, that reference was in my head or on my hips actually.

hypocrite: Do as I say not as I do (oops actually that's not a hypocrite, that's the Golden Rule of Parenting :)

Good poem - now let me move on, you know what they say about idle hands.

A hypocrite is often the one alleging hypocrisy. Well noted old chap.

Much like how a cheat will say "trust me" when you first meet him and how the man who knows least will speak loudest.

Thus the wise man sayith nothing at all.

:-)

I tend to babble. Can't help it.

Hi Neva! *waves* I see you over there. :-)

"I can't hear you lalalalalalala" -Karl Rove.

And yes, ma'am, you're first, Neva. Do a victory lap.

Jamie Dawn, attendance at churches, mosques and synagogues would be down sharply, too.

Pia, there are two kinds of people in the world, hypocrites and me. I'll read your article, but you're right. I'm beyond surprise.

Logo, Bierce had the broader vision, didn't he? I love the word "theophagi," too.

Joel, if it helps, my line of work puts me in similar jeopardy.

TLP, I should have made that "human" but I thought some of the women here might want to get sanctimonious.

G, what is parenting but a pass on hypocrisy?

Morgan, I'd rather be silent and thought a fool than to blog and remove all doubt.

Sanctimonious: Describing the last pietistic dart thrown at my poor heart. *sob*

Whatever. *snicker*

If all the hippies in the world got together and formed their own party, would that become a Hippocracy?

The OE said...

Hypocrite: A stalagtite or stalagmite hanging from, or created by, a hyppopotamus.

Doug The Una said...

I missed again, huh, TLP?

Terry, and a hippo shall lead them.

Actonbell, that's a great point. What's in the glass?

OE, thought through thoroughly, your pun is as disturbing as my alliterations.

I've alway felt that hypocrites seem very ironic.
