Social Justice

SOCIAL JUSTICE, n.  The collective struggle for inclusive conspiracy.
The elite are all foreign, the common all kin
And the wise live over the ocean.
We all share one world, aversion to sin
And confusion at brownian motion.
You're the salt of the Earth, but hear me now, Mister!
For we aren't all so different on balance:
What binds us together as brother and sister,
Is thievery, given the chance.
-St. Loquacious

social justice - An oxymoron unfortunately.

Social Justice: your chance to give your life meaning.

Unfortunately good intentions cause just about as much harm as malevolece does. But there is no excuse to stop trying.

I like the way THREE DOG NIGHT questioned...

How can people be so heartless
How can people be so cruel
Easy to be hard, easy to be cold

How can people have no feelings
How can they ignore their friends
Easy to be proud, easy to say no

Especially people who care about strangers
Who care about evil and SOCIAL INJUSTICE

OH, you said justice. What's the difference?

SOCIAL JUSTICE n. these two words go together about as well as opposing ends of magnets.

Consider for example the incident when the 5th grade bully got peed on by the third grader he sat on to terrorize. The bully was laughed at long and loud -- but then so was the victim.

The bully learned to keep a bit more distance between himself and his future target. The victim ... became even more of a victim. That is social justice in practice.

Hey Doug! Somebody's been reading up on the Prisoner's Dilemma, eh?

"I just misunderstood the rules" - Bill Belicheat. (I don't suppose it's a coincidence that the Wikipedia page on Belichick, the pride of Boston - a second-rate city full of second-rate people if there ever was one, look what they have to do to get a "winner" - has no reference to the videotaping scandal.)

The only worthwhile thing Bates College students have ever done was to storm the ring after the second Clay(Ali)-Liston fight in 1965 yelling "Fix!" (which it probably was. Oh, if that trend had only caught on ...

Jenn, that's anti-social justice.

Minka, that's theft.

Poobah, it's only unfortunate if you're sociable. Curmedgeonly justice is everlasting and present anywhere people don't gather.

TLP, I had a feeling satire would be tough for the Unitarians today.

Terry, the difference is between imagining a hammer in your hand or feeling one on your skull.

Starts there, usually, Hobbes.

Quilly, that's a superb parable.

Cindra, only because you're innocent.

Amoeba, I studied the Prisoner's Dilemma in college actually. It really irritated that economics professors consider strangling the guard, taking his keys and freeing your friend before frivolously kicking a missionary volunteer wasn't a valid option.

Justice is as justice does.

(I kind of stole that from Forrest Gump, then I just changed it a bit and made it my own.)

Doug, does that mean I have to return this lollipop I found outside the store yesterday and took home...I really don't want to. It tastes nice, you know.
And I had to bend down and pick it up and carry it all the way home...I put in the work!

I liked ap3's idea.

Doug, nothing brings people together like covering up a crime.

Jamie Dawn, if that ain't justice, what is?

Ariel, the opposite. OK!

No Minka, enjoy the lolli. It's probably clean by now.

Aral, that's not only a dreamy definition but a great job of spinning away from your Unitarian pieties.

Mireille, it's the human truth shared by rich and poor and paralegal.

Cooper, that's odd. Didn't you just finish college?

Indie, a union label!

Boy, or, apparently, when you tie him down and pee on him.

Elbot, give a bot a battery and he works for a day. Give him a solar panel and he works for a sunny day.

Nessa, so true.
