The Reformation of Wolfshausen

Teil Fünfundneunzig
To hear Actonbell read the final episode, gather up before the angel.

Or, you can read this episode among the Wisteria.

The whole kit and caboodle can be downloaded here.
This episode also concludes Waking Ambrose, with gratitude and appreciation for all of you who have participated and made this site so much fun for such a long time. Thank you all. Be well and be in touch.

I loved this episode. It is so easy to screw up the end but you did it wonderfully, and Waking Ambrose should be very proud Actonbell did the final reading! And I had to go back to "Ludmilla?" more times, it was hilarious. Was that TLP?

It's been a wonderful trip. The entire blog. You were good to us, and faithful.

Yes, Ariel, I AM the Frau. It was an honor.

Great story Doug.

Lovely reading Actonbell. You did the ending justice.

It has been fun here, Doug. Thanks for letting us all play.

Don't be a stranger.

Jim said...

All's well that ends well.

Goodly done, Doug! I hope you are writing some more right now.

Come see. I'll come snoop around to see what you're doing. I know you can't just be quiet for long.

Meaning visit my corny blog when you like. If you come to Houston Mrs. Jim and I should be here in person. (Well, she's in London right now visiting with the kids but she will be back soon.)

Actonbell is a good reader. Her calling might be books on media?

As the sun is starting upon its rise above the horizon on the last dawning of your blog, the Bear and I have listened to the final chapter of Wolfshausen together. Stellar writing as usual - and a very nice finish by the Pez crew - thank you. I'm not very good on saying goodbye so I just won't. See you soon.

k. riggs gardner said...

Speaking of making "this site so much fun," I think Ariel the Thief's word verifiers are deliciously frightful! They remind me of that episode when Tempest Nightingale Le Trope said ...

"'Did you see that man? He looks like his soul fermented and oozed out of his chin. Was he even wearing pants? ' GENIUS! And Aqualung is certainly the perfect individual to portray this sentence."

And then we started wondering if Mathias and Theressa Jakshitz, The Crappy Times Undead of the Month, were Vampires?

Doug The Una said...

Thanks, Ariel. Did you have popcorn?

Thanks, TLP. For the most part we've all been good to each other and it has been grand.

I'm not going anywhere, Nessa, that I know of. Just the blog.

Jim, I agree. She makes it fun. And the only thing I expect to be different in my RSS reader is that "Waking Ambrose" will stop ticking it forward. If I'm in Houston, the Jim Bunch will be on my itinerary. Likewise, I hope, if you come to LA.

Bear, you're welcome. Thanks for adding to it all and I'll see you on the by-ways.

Terry, there's no call for goodbyes.

Karen, I don't remember that but I'm glad you're there to report on the netherworld.

k. riggs gardner said...

Wow, Actonbell. Not to overuse that word, but--WOW. You're reading is terrific!

I think Cooper should move onward, too. She can break into another chorus of "What Now My Love", the Sonny and Cher (not the Elvis), version. Or maybe we'll all get lucky and she'll deposit another comment about dog poo.

Jamie Dawn said...

This is the end, my friend. Endings are often new beginnings, though, so who knows what's in store in Blogville or other villes. I thoroughly enjoyed this blog, and I'm thankful there was and is such a thing as blogging. What a world it has opened up! You are a masterful wordsmith, and this blog has been a pleasure to read and comment on over the years.
I've gone from being a has-been blogger to now being a lazy Facebooker. These newfangled internet communicating thingies are swell.
Enjoy being free of the blogging task master, and rejoice in your newfound liberty. Selah.

Doug The Una said...

Actonbell, I'll look forward to the next train. Of course, your ticket is in a higher class, but maybe we can meet up in the club car.

Karen, if you like, I plan to keep up with Cooper so I can let you know.

Thanks, Jamie Dawn for being a big part of this blog. Let me know if there's an etiquette for has-been bloggers. Strong bulls of Bashan encircle me. Amen!

Great final installment Doug, you did yourself proud.

Great story and wonderful reading... Sad that this blog is ending, truly. But of course all blogs -- and everything, for that matter -- runs a course and comes to an end. Congratulations for stopping while it was still a great blog! One of the the best.... And yes, if you start a new train, we want to hop on.

If I'm reading correctly, the Doug Drones On "blog will now be on hiatus until 2011. Thank you to all who have read and/or enjoyed the stories here and best wishes for the holiday season."

I'm glad I met Jim and everyone here at this blog. (well, I met Doug Pascover at a different blog).

I, too, plan to snoop around to see what Jamie, the lazy Facebooker is doing. And maybe some "has-been" bloggers too! I know I can't just be quiet for long.

k. riggs gardner said...

I'm also curious to know the editor of Doug Drones On will change format from:

"THE COLLECTION OF SATURDAY STORIES FROM WAKING AMBROSE AND CONTRIBUTIONS FROM FRIENDS. TO POST YOUR OWN STORY HERE, PLEASE EMAIL ME A LINK. NO PROFANITY, PLEASE."

cylexpru: the language spoken by General Arshmol/Ugluk and Goth Maug on Stuffed Animal Planet.

Doug The Una said...

TLP, Terry and Jim, we'll adjust. I'm nostalgic, too, though.

Karen, I'm touched that you have such kind words to say for Jim. You're right, I left the way open for Doug Drones On to continue after the New Year. I'm not sure if I'll do anything with it, but the title might take a new meaning too. I am only certain it will not be a six-day-per week scheduled affair with definitions from The Devil's Dictionary. We'll see.

k. riggs gardner said...

Well, Doug, I don't doubt. You did mention (once or twice in my recollection) that the Devil's Dictionary has a limited supply of words to redefine.

pia said...

Selfishly my first thought was "no. Doug. No." My second thought was "I've known him for almost six years. He could have told me."
But my third thought was "go on. I know your address. And I've been wanting a long train ride--sleeper car please."
You are one of the most important people in the blogoshphere to me and can never be replaced.

Ariel the Thief said...

Well, I am not SURE he could be replaced with my mother's lemon cake but I'd give it a try, and you'd better be ready for a surprise.

Mo'a said...

I am in shock...what, what? Am I missing something that Ariel the Thief is privy to?

Doug The Una said...

Correct, Karen

Pia and Mo'a, there were announcements here of what would happen and when, but I understand for the intermittent reader this might come as a surprise. Sorry about that. You both know me well enough by now, I hope, to believe I was just trying not to overdramatize the end. Because most of Bierce's dictionary has been got through, this blog was getting more and more administrative so less fun to write. It's still great fun knowing you all, but I can continue to do that on your blogs and intend to.

Ariel, I'd start there.

Mo'a, I think the surprise Ariel is referring to is probably that it will not be her mother making the lemon cake but her, and so might have whole lemons baked in.
