Calliope

Calliope, n. One of the nine Muses, who has had a narrow escape from the dread immortality of having a steam whistle named in her honor. Happily the name is popularly so mispronounced as to defeat the malevolent intent.

2005 Update: The soundtrack to the merry-go-round and perdition.

Gabriel, hey, it happens.

Sar, I thought that was an abbreviation.

Thanks, little bar of soap. Bless you too.

Lucinda, that sounds like a song. Of course, Times New Roman Calliope is nice too.

I don't get it

What do we ride on that merry-go-round? Handbaskets and good intentions?

Sar said...

Wow, with that many letters that'd be one helluv an abbreviation! Tell me, is the song stuck in your head now?

Doug The Una said...

Dog face, have you met Pansi yet?

Weirsdo, handbaskets, good intentions and disemboweled unicorns, all to the same sweet strains.

Sar, the guy who wrote that song was on NPR yesterday afternoon. He also wrote "It's a Small World," which is the more virulent strain. Fortunately, someone reminded me of the hymn "Morning Has Broken" today which is stuck in my head and welcome there.

Sar said...

Great, well that backfired on me 'cause now "Morning..." is stuck in my head.
