Ghost
Ghost, n. The outward and visible sign of an inward fear.
2005 Update: An entity beyond death, rich in spirit and poor in flesh. Halloween's congressperson.
Aral, I once heard a sermon about the Lord's Prayer where the pastor used the phrase "Daddy-O, Laddy-O and Spook." I was attending a fairly conservative Lutheran Church and the memory still cracks me up.
Lotus, I was really hoping you'd stop by today.
TLP, excellent.
Thanks, Jamie Dawn, and when I'm bad, unfortunately, I'm kind of sorry.
You know, Actonbell, after I posted I had the same thought. I guess I was coming from a "Sound and fury signifying nothing" place. And you're quirky a lot of days ;-)
Sreekesh, you're definitely over my head this time. Just tell me what the g is for.
Have you noticed that the lady is giving the ghost only the green treats? She is keeping those strawberry flavoured ones all to herself!!! That could be me and yes I have to much time on my hands today...
Monika, does the urban myth about "the green ones" have an equivalent in Germany or Iceland? In the States, we have M & M candies which come in various colors and at some point when you're a teenager, someone will whisper that "the green ones" are aphrodisiacs.

I didn't think that I had a Ghost of a chance of finding a new word up this early in the morning.

Ghosts, our friends in old age.
it was a ghostly revelation when I learned that Doug's sense of humor was fueled by the shadow of Ambrose's soul

Satan's minions in some cultures, protective ancestors in some!

Ghost, n. The unreconciled dead. A person who demands a recount on his final tally of days.
Boo! Dddragon!
Icy, that's deep. Good girl.
Pia, I thought I heard scratching.
Lumbergh! How've you been?
And a safe Diwali, Karma.
Andrew, I'm still laughing. It's Supreme Court day, after all.
Ghost, n. When holy, they hang around with a father and son.
hehehehe I love your def.
Ghost: residual will to communicate with me while I'm trying to sleep.
Ghost,n., A ghoulish mixture of ignorance and imagination.
Also see Specter, speaking of the Supreme Court committee. (sort of)
Ghost: Something you must "give up" when you die.
"rich in spirit and poor in flesh": That is simply brilliant and very Biblical sounding, beatitudish. When you're good, you're VERY good.

happy halloween doug.
Ghost: What many people are in real life. We don't sense, see or talk to them. We only feel them when they get scary or howl.
Enjoy your Halloween Doug and email me what you did! Hey, save me some treats!
Ghost: a commodity to be exploited, i.e., Ghost Tours in Savannah, GA, and Gettysburg, PA.
Alice, the ghost of WD-40 past haunts me daily.
Asiansmiles, at least you can see yourself in the mirror. Hmpf.
Marwa, WAoooooOOOOOO! I'll hold back some chocolate. When are you dropping by?
Or Calico, CA, Dddragon. There's money in the undead.
Ghost...dare I mention my big screen debut again? Happy Halloween all!
Ghost-apparitions with terrible body image issues, which eventually leads to covering up with a sheet.
ghost: an inventive atheist. Believing neither in heaven nor hell, it roams our pretentious world for...payback!
Sar, please tell us the story again.
Masil, so, anorexics?
a4g, right or if it were up to quiet-loving bachelors.
Monika, you make them sound so sinister!
g-host?
Like I could, a4g.
You know, Actonbell, after I posted I had the same thought. I guess I was coming from a "Sound and fury signifying nothing" place. And you're quirky a lot of days ;-)
Sreekesh, you're definitely over my head this time. Just tell me what the g is for.
Nothing. I have absolutely nothing.
So - Happy Halloween!

i used to be a ghost writer, until i discovered Doug
Clever! Happy Halloween, Doug! xoxo
Happy Halloween, then, perfesser.
Sar, will I get a $10 discount?
Glad to hear it Karma. I like to think of this blog as helping creative people reform.
Clever yourself, Mireille. Zockso!
Ectoplasmic gullibility.
Thanx A4g!
Hope all you guys had a lovely Halloween. I bought myself some treats as well and ate in spirit ...or should I say in a ghostly fashion!
Weirsdo, so, we trick the ghosts?
Monika, the ghosts around here practically brought straws. I'm sure you were a lady about it, though.
Have you noticed that the lady is giving the ghost only the green treats? She is keeping those strawberry flavoured ones all to herself!!!
That could be me and yes I have to much time on my hands today...
