Agony: The result of the internet and its users impeding my expectations.
(see: Blogger and or Gmail being down).

Have a great weekend everyone! Doug, I'm not sure if I'll have internet acces, so just in case make sure you set aside a slice of Prattle for my return.

Clarity: That verse was from the mind of Mo'a.
The agony of doubt: Were you kidding me?

You are one succinct dog!!

Agony=clarity. Thanks for clearing that up mon ami!

now after reading the last of the comments from yesterday, may I just say I feel like such a dang mugwump for missing that agony/clarity connection before!!

AGONY, n.

1. Brokeny.

2. Memory. See Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson.

3. Transcontinental business travel. :(

I'm leavin' on a jet plane,
   I don't know when I'll be back again;

Enjoy the holiday, with remembrance.

Do not forsake me O my darlin'
   Wait, wait along.

Sar, I promise there will be some left.

Mo'a, kidding about loving it? Not at all. You know a pretty verse when you want to read it out loud and I did.

Brian, Jenna has the blue ones.

Bien sur, Kyahgirl. Draft one was "An opportunity to reflect on the past or see into the future." Clarity seemed clearer.

Three good examples, O Ceallaigh. Brokeny?

Agony... not having the clarity of mind necessary to ...

Crap, forgot what I was gonna say!

Kyahgirl is channeling me again...or at least my comments! (suddenly i have such clarity regarding the sudden "loss" of a clever comment. ah, the agony of revelation!)

I have the blue ones? I thought I was the blue ones. Oh the agony in my heart. The utter agony!! (flings self onto couch and sobs broken heartedly)

Agony -- Accompanied by the moment of clarity when you realize..Why oh why didn't I take the blue pill?

agony: Life without anti-depressents, pain-killers or the illusion of love.

Gloom, dispair, and agony on me
Deepest dark depression,
Excessive misery.
If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all.
Gloom, dispair, and agony on me.

Doug The Una said...

Haha, Miz B!

Puppytoes, if revelation isn't agony you missed the point.

Jenna, you are the queen little blue pill. The others are your lucky minions. Better?

VI, the first time you take it, I imagine, too.

Minka's back, y'all! The scales have regrown on my eyes!

Good morning, Logo! Rain again?

Minka said...

That is the kind of welcome I like! makes me almost forget teh agony of life...

Agonizing over her lack of clarity and ability to come up with a post she reads on...Minka-I think as long as you have one of those, you're covered.

Indeed, the point is agonizingly clear! (whaddaya take me for, a maroon?) : P

According to wiki, agony's original meaning was mental struggle ... so the agony of meditation is the cessation of mental struggle in order to achieve clarity? There. Chew on that. ♥ xoxo

Great comments as usual. Agony is no internet access at home. I'm in agony. To the max.

Now I have a "Hee Haw" earworm. Thanks logophile. Agony indeed.

Kyahgirl said...

Hi Mireille, *chomp, chomp* yum, delicious words of wisdom !

Puppytoes-of course I was channeling you,its a common thing amongst dog bloggers. Doug channeled me so many time a couple of weeks ago I was starting to get scared. Thought maybe I was experiencing that a localized version of that peculiar Canadian problem known as 'brain drain' (where Canadian politicians start worrying that all the smart people are moving to the States because they want to get paid more).

Apparently I'm not that smart because I'm still here but Willy and Kyah have some dog telepathy. You know, now that we bring this up, I think Kyah is the psychic one. She's the common link. *cue Twilight Zone music*

ok, blah, blah, blah....I'm done :-)

Minka said...

g, right you are and
still life, very well done!

Thanks for the clarity, Doug!

Agony: the dart through the heart of someone else writing the comment you would have written if you'd only been quicker off the mark.

(The one about no internet/blogger/gmail access. Gah!)

It is sheer agony if I can't get back here more than once per day to join in on the interactive fun.
Courtney's b-day took up my afternoon/evening and I didn't get back for a second stab at mugwump.
If I make it back for a second bite at the Waking Ambrose apple, I usually have clarity about the word of the day. One visit alone just leaves me befuddled, flustered, frustrated, and yes... in agony.

Ariel the Thief said...

Monika, your definition is perfect. the right words in the right order, seems so easy to do once someone has done it.

Kyahgirl said...

darnnit-I'm sorry I spelled your name wrong Willie. Kyah is used to it because her name's bit weird but yours isn't. Mea Culpa.

Mistress Anna said...

There is nothing clearer than having your heart ripped out of your chest...figuratively and I guess literally, but I suspect the later doesn't happen much.

Jamie Dawn said...

Bite Two before I head out for the afternoon:

Agony is watching the season finale of Lost and feeling more lost than I did before I watched it, and knowing I have to wait until next season to have my questions answered, and knowing they will drag it on and on, and knowing I am hooked on this blasted show.
24's season finale was ecstasy. Very cool ending!

Mutha said...

Soemtimes I have to study in order to play at Doug's -- and today, when I looked up "Agony" I found an alternate definition was "The death struggle"
Geez.
That's a buzz kill.

Minka said...

Ariel, why Thank you! :)

and here is one quote for good messure:

“On the outskirts of every agony sits some observant fellow who points.”

Minka, you're welcome to use some of my eyeball scales any old time. And I was so glad to see you back I forgot to congratulate you on a perfect definition.

G, I agree with your agreement. You got something, though, I know it.

Sorry, Puppytoes, I had a lot of words left over from this morning and took a very long and confusing way of saying "I agree." You can't just leave words laying around with a guy like me.

Haha, Still Life. Are you saying bliss isn't engraved?

Brian, looking for cogency on the internet is the best-deserved agony I can imagine.

Mireille you just blew my mind. I'm drooling. Does that mean I win?

TLP, it's agony for all of us when you're offline.

Kyahgirl, so is the migration making both countries smarter?

Amen, Minka.

Jenna, it's kind of what I do.

Minx, that'll teach you to have your coffee and play with your kids before coming here.

Jamie Dawn, how do you think we felt when you were in Canada. Promise you'll never leave again.

Thank you, Ariel. Shame on me for not mentioning it. You're a friend to us all.

Kyahgirl, as long as you share bones, Willie's love is unconditional.

Mistress Anna, I can introduce you to some people.

Jamie Dawn, I haven't watched Lost but it sounds well-named.

Hahaha, Mutha. I'm sorry. "Tulip" wasn't in there.

Minka, that is a great quote. Didn't take you long to catch up, I have to say.

Masil, Agony may be misery's only true love but she sure has a lot of lovers.

Yes, Mutha, and welcome back.

Thanks all of you, I was about to write an ugly letter in anger. You all cheered me up, so now I'm going to write an ugly letter is amused self-righteousness instead.

Mikki Marshall said...

Thanks Minka...great quote and true, I think.

Doug, but not necessarily monogramed right?

Kyahgirl said...

Kyah says 'thank you Willie' Have a moose bone. Delish. (But eat it outside-messy)

Minka said...

Doug...it is good to be back!

This was an easy word to start things up again. See, the language of agony is so easy perceived. It is everywhere. Unfourtunately we all speak it fluently.

This is almost a quote. I read somewhere something similar, but I just can´t recall him or her. Nontheless, very true!

Still Life, nothing is more erasable than a monogram. Sure.

Man that sounds good, Kyahgirl!

Minka, let's say you said it and next time it will be a quote. Like "fat penguin"

Aunt Agonism, for lovers. Marriage Counseling half price.

Alice, I will be telling a story on Saturday morning (10 minutes ago in fact) and writing bilious libel around noon your time and checking in from time to time.

Why would the Omnipotentpoobah cross the road?

Yay! Aral! Thanks for getting that one in!

O Ceallaigh, isn't "amorophilic" redundant? Like Homo Erectus?

Karma, again with the verifier. Ha!

Aw, thanks, Lammy. I did my best.

Squaregirl, I think she's cute.
