Story #45, In which Doug climbs up a mountain and comes down a cloud.
To hear the story, listen to the voice of the desert calling you up the ridge from Deep Springs Valley.
To read the story, come over to Eureka Valley

slacker
still waiting...in in my vocabulary patience is not a virtue but an annoying excuse for people who like to be late! :)
Hi shoe!
Lovely pictures, ok I am done looking at them....*taptap*
Ooooh! So pretty! I'm a yogi... I can wait *hint, hint Minka & Sar*
Mizzy I just left a comment! And you too Minka! How's that for timing? Damn I'm good.
Actually Strider & family are here for a visit, so I've got to run & will check back when I can. In the meantime being the hostess with the mostess that I am, I brought fresh coffee and d-lish tea for everyone. Enjoy! Except the slacker - may the wafting and enticing scent of fresh coffee discourage your slackerness! :)
well, i'm Indian. that means i can wait 500 years without twitchin, even if i'm itchin
Sar, no distractions please! bring a margarita and i'll re-consider
jwgye: get jiggy with it, guy
I read first tooo, but I can´t hear the version! Something wrong with my player?
Thank you Miz B and Karma for your patient indulgence.
Minka and Sar, pttttttthhhhtt
Oh, and the sound works on my computer but sometimes it takes a little extra time for it to settle in on the server. Try again, I'd like to talk to you about forgiveness.
Douglas, I can hear perfectly well too. good story, hope you've stopped going in circles now - have you lost the limp?
Mt. Nittany is a pretty far hike from Penn State's dairy barns. Perhaps climbing the nearby Beaver Stadium would have sufficed.
Ooh the daring adventures of Doug! Oh pardon me, the daring misadventures of Doug.
Our wavelength might be frozen, so I will give it another try later. It is 3 degrees here today...and they predict snow later on! Ah...the Arctic Circle, nothing quite like it!
:)
You feel like hiking it?
And sweety, I have already forgiven you for posting late! Don´t worry about it anymore! :)
Geez, Minka, that place sounds almost as warm and cozy as Maine. That's 3 degreees centigrade, which is nearer 40 than frostbite, I presume.
CIRCULAR PATH, phr. The road taken, and taken, and taken, and ... CIRCULAR PAT: Belly rub. But you'll have to ask one of the girls. Perhaps Jenna. You lucky dog.
Thanks, Karma. The limp has spread.
Dddragon, where were you 20 years ago?
Yeah, Jenna, Misadventures are more my specialty.
Monika, very gracious, thank you. The whole artic circle?
I love the picture of Deep Spring valley--of the bit of green at the base of the mountains.
I know that school! You are among the elite to be accepted there. 'Course, I knew you were extra smart.
It's all about circles really. But try to avoid walkin' in them. You can't avoid living one.
Having spent some time as a dairy cow, I have a profound understanding of why the cow's would be antsy if you were late! So sweet of you to worry!
Monika-you have no idea how happy it makes me to know that someone has worse weather than me. Yeah, I feel a bit guilty in saying that but not enough to stop me!
I have two beautiful sweaters from a company called 'Icelandic Design', ever heard of them?
p.s. I'd better go into hiding in that valley because I think the punctuation police are going to be after me. I murdered an apostrophe!
looks like someone was making fun of you, Doug. I liked the pictures too.
YAY, more stories of Dudley Do-right, or Douglas Went-wrong, either way, good stuff.
Liking the pictures too.
Ha, ha, haaa Logophile! Funny, funny indeed!
Circle... Siddhartha's journey that lead him ulimately back to himself.
Ugh! That should read "led"... shrieking lil' bohemians can do that to you!
Like always, brilliant story you divine spinner of tales you!
By and by ~ my first story with Doug - you do spin a beautiful yarn!
Dang. That was Dreamy. I know I've said it before , but you've got a great voice too, Doug.
O Ceallaigh, what's interesting is that the circular path is 2πr less infinite than the circular rub.
Sage, welcome and God bless the desert rats. By the way, Sage, next time I'm there I'll try to take a picture from the pass on the Nevada side. 600 acres of livid green surrounded by 40,000 of tan.
TLP, you really know that school? Actually you could get in with pretty low achievement, brains and test scores (at least in the 80s.) The only iron criterion is every man jack of us is flippin' strange.
All roads lead to the circle, hey, Cowgirl?
You didn't murder it, Kyahgirl, you left it next door. Where are your children right now? Oh, and you and Minka can each have 15 degrees celsius from me.
Ariel, making fun of me? Who was it? Lemme at 'em!
Thanks, Logo.
Oh, Miz B, I'll have to do an oxherding tale sometime, won't I?
Thanks, Ginah. That was the last test. You're one of us now.
Aw, thanks, Mutha. You should hear me sing :P
Be afraid - be very afraid.
Well, it seems my son Julian may be too. He came up on my lap to play with my hair before bed (ah rituals), so I played him your moving picture show - to which he sleepily said "Again". We took her for one more twirl - all the while Julian's tired little body relaxing into mine - then, poof, off to bed without a fight.
We may have to add this to the nightly rituals. I think I'll go watch a movie.
Night.
Hey! That was added later on. It wansæt here this morning!
BUt how lovely to come back to your page and still see soemthing new. I just loved the scenery...very beautiful pictures indeed. And those dogs!
Yer welcome
flippin' strange, huh?
Must be why I like you.
My sister was just telling me this morning how odd I am.
Such a social being our Doug.
circle = life
coming around again and again and..........................on and on...
Thank you, Gina. That's a very nice compliment. I'll have to do more slide shows for Julian.
Thanks, Minka. I guess I didn't explicitly say it's a slide show I made of photos from a couple more recent trips to Deep Springs.
Logo, you needed to be told I'm strange? I didn't need to be told you're odd ;-)
Cooper, I'm a people person. Provided pups are people. Watch out, here it comes again.
Great story and we enjoyed the slide show! So nice!
Hey, we remember you singing in your first story. When's the encore?
Yes Doug, when will that be? I remember the first singing as well,Icy! God we have been around this block for quite a while!:)
A week without the interaction of Waking Ambrose makes one's return to it very sweet. I was getting the shakes by Thursday, but I managed to survive.
When I think of the word "circle," I think of a merry-go-round, which is lots of fun, unless you've just eaten two corn dogs, a pretzel, and a funnel cake. In that case, you feel a lurch in your stomach part way through the ride. I suppose you felt that same lurch when you heard that lunch bell.
Nice pics and music.
Circle: A regularly socializing group comprised of not just people but occassionally also dogs and stilettos.
I enjoyed the story and the photos, but I really enjoyed the video montage you created.
Icy, when do we get to hear you howl at the moon.
Minka, the first time is usually enough.
Hurray! Jamie Dawn is back! And she picked my avatar! I hope you and Courtney had a blast.
Sar, a regularly socializing group with no dogs or stilettos is a square.
yay, yay, yay!!! I got my broadband installed today so could watch your picture show and listen to the story.
Great stuff.
Kyahgirl, cheers!
