What de ye know... penguin claiming it for Caifornia today.

neva, you sleeping or something?

Zeno, an accountant? Genius.

And now, its Doug's turn to be reduced by half each day trying to keep up. Show no mercy, Majesty! And, have fun!

Boy, the sun rises early in California these days. Enjoyed the story...fantastic definition of "partnership!"

Penguin...your voice is much deeper on the west coast and Neva and I (yes we're awake but haven't been to Starbucks yet, so be advised) want to know happened to your accent??

Minka said...

partnership,n: a convenient truce

Morning AL *waves*

Joel said...

Ah...I see we're invisible today. Damn, if only we could control this super power.

Quilly said...

partnership -- an alliance formed to enhance the talents of one while exploiting the talents of another; the partnership is balanced only when the exploitation is mutual

Hey, that oasis looks familiar.

Another intriguing installment--a race to Damascus?

The philosopher taught me that in the counting, there is the lie. that's wonderful. thanks. xoxo

Partnership: means for pushing each other forward and/or holding each other back.

LOVE this installment -- tho' i've grown mighty fond of that philosopher over the past few weeks, i can't say i'm sorry not to be exposed to Diogenes' jaybird nakedness again (hmmm... is there a statement about taxation in that, as well?)

oh, and as "Invisible Joel" says, that California sunshine has quite the effect on teh Penguin's voice. WELL DONE! ; )

*claps loudly, stopping only to sip on a TGSNWM*

PARTNERSHIP, n. Sailing vessel, crewed by a captain and a mutual admiration society of leeches. The boat founders when the captain collapses for want of blood.

(Have to say, prospects for falsification of this definition are looking rosier all the time)

OK, Doug, who's Mary?!? ;)

And snuppy, I'm waiting for the philosopher to hold forth on the cosmic significance of the Starbucks Secret Code. :P

A penguin is loose in LA County. Have the good people of Southern California been alerted? The earthquake teams on the San Andreas Fault? The smile ambasssadors at the Magic Kingdom?

Squeeze a date? Any in particular?

Good. Again.

But as a former accountant, I must say that a partnership is the last business agreement that I would enter into.

Each partner is responsible for all the partnership’s liabilities, and there is no limit to this.

Oh, wait! Is that why you are still single?

Minka is in CA? Hot damn!

Jamie Dawn said...

Your definition of partnership is gooood.

I'm not sure there exists such a thing as an equal partnership.

Well water and dates.
I'll stick to chocolate truffles.

I'm thrilled to hear that Monika has made her way from the east coast to the west coast.
What an adventure!!

Minka, it the Governor emailed that its good you finally stopped working against us. I won't mention it's temporary until he sends you a cigar.

Al, I'm down to a buck-twenty-five. Here's something impressive, though: Kyahgirl can keep up. Willie and I are looking at rehab brochures together.

Joel, she grew a full viking beard on theplane, too.

A-ha, Minka. Very clever and probably the first ever Al Gore joke on this site.

Joel, I see you. You're in a tunnel and there's a bright, white light just behind your head.

Quilly, I know just what you mean, like when staff uses you to get their $15/hr taking more than half what their work brings in? I hate that.

Actonbell, you know I hadn't thought of this as an amazing race. I kinda wish I had.

Now, Mireille, before you stop counting, remember who wrote it, OK?

Neva, at last, I have a translator nearby for your Bucksarese. Thank you.

Amoeba, the good people have been alerted. Kyahgril is here, too which balances things, although I think its premature to send the Nat'l Guard back to Baghdad just yet. I don't know this Mary but she seems to know a lot of my characters. In 400 BC, they had a word for that kind of behavior.

Jay, take your pick.

See, TLP, I've always been gifted in the analogy department. Keeps me young, single and mean. Minka is here. Kyahgirl is here. It's a great troop.

JD, I'm surprised you didn't hear her pass over Arkansas. Equal partnerships are like well-water and dates.

G said...

Is Diogenes there too? Hope your troop is having a fine time and Monika and Kyahgirl don't wake up with their hands tied behind their backs :)

Nicely done.

puppybrose said...

unless Minka & Kyahgirl have created a partnership of their own, in which case Doug might wake up with HIS hands tied, eh, G? (tho' a well placed pillow over the face might be more effective)

i know you're all having a grand time, i know MY ears are ringing (damn that tinnitus, anyway) and i'm guessing others' will be, too, soon enough. good luck keeping up with those two -- i can't speak for Laura, but that Monika moves surprisingly fast for a penguin. ; )

Minka said...

Joel, I am so sorry. We posted apparently at the same time and I missed your comment. You are not invisibe, especialy not with that frit hat you insist on wearing all the time. *waves immesey*

For those wondering, Doug is still alive, he is taking us fairly well considering his disposition and nobody has been found with hands tied anywhere. The Californian sun has found my face and arms and if I stay too long, I can't pull off Penguin anymore. We ar ehaving a ball and to my guys at the East
Coast: I miss you lot! ;)

How to combine all this with partnership (the word to be defined?) It is Sunday for crying out loud...he rests on Sundays!

Joel said...

Doug...does that light behind my head come equipped with 18 wheels and mud flaps or a cow catcher?

Minka...you said you liked my hat?

Kyahgirl said...

*woof* from California.
Good thing I'm a herding dog because the Penguin can really get away from you.....she does move fast!
We're having a great time and I can bear witness to the fact that Doug WILL survive and live to blog another day.
Coming from a snow covered home, I must say there is a lot of simple enjoyment in just being warm and not wearing 4 layers of clothes. :-)

G said...

Well Puppy, hmmm, so far Monika and Kyah have commented...

...unless he's making breakfast - around the campfire.

puppybrose said...

'tis a small world, after all. and a good one, at that.

which means...? nothing. and everything. partners, almost partners, partnering with others from parts unknown and/or frozen parts in need of thawing -- what can i say? i'm jealous. G & I will sniff and snort and sip on our coffees, all the while keeping a lookout for A) Joel's hat (cow-catcher?) and B) penguins landing/taking-off to other parts, at which time, parting will be such sweet sorrow. (not that i'm bitter)

Doug, G's right. ¿dónde está amigo? and, how are Willie and/or Walela holding up after teh Canadian/Icelandic invasion? (pretty darn well, i'm guessing)

have fun stormin' the castle... ; )

These stories seem to be getting better and better... nicely read, too.

Have fun with your friends in CA!

Kyahgirl said...

ok, I have to check back in after a day at Disneyland....it was a near thing but we all managed to have fun and come back with grimaces.. no, I mean grins on our faces. Teh penguin has been walking around for hours with a lovely Tiara on her head and getting the adulation she so richly deserves.
puppybrose, I think that Willie and Walela are thrilled to death to have two more devotees at their sides! They are simply adorable.

Kyahgirl said...

G, they haven't made me go to the harder restraints yet.

Puppybrose, the secret is, instead of trying to keep up, go to round places and wait for her next lap.

Thank you, Minka, for some reason I'm dragging a litle today.

Joel, were you planning on chasing cows?

Kyahgirl, I'm typing this across a table and penguin from you but I think you're declaring defeat too early.

G, I was mining the salt for lunch. Here I am.

Neva, I'm dizzy.

Aral, thanks for noticing the story, You're a good sister.

Kyah, Woof!

not only are you dizzy, you're delirious. (par for teh course and/or Penguin)

ps: Aral is a fantastic sister, but some of us did make mention of and/or praise this story earlier, bub.
