Faith

FAITH, n. Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel.

2nd??? Close enough.

Doug, when you say "wisdom of a thief" is it just a coincidence that it rhymes with "commander and chief"?

Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to. ~George Seaton

3rd?

ozfew: only the few who believe in the wizard, will find magic at the end of the yellow brick road. (hmmm. that's a lot of words/meaning for such a short verifier, but there ya go!)

i saw this and thought of penguins, who lovelovelove to be "first"!:

Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark. ~Rabindranath Tagore

okay, i'm done with the quotes. (for today, that is...)

Faith... The illusion of killing "fear" and "doubt" in order to simply make it through another day...

Denial?

Faith 1.) Pollyanna's middle name. 2.) irrepressable optimism.

Faith: The sun will come up tomorrow.

I like MizB's juxtaposition of faith and denial. As far as thief: you mean the who stole your heart, who promises to love you forever? Speaking of, book rec for those of the estrogen persuasion in the audience: Necessary Sins by Lynn Darling. Speaking of faith. xoxo

Have to quote an old favorite of mine, W. H. Auden:
"To choose what is difficult all one's days, as if it were easy, that is faith."

Merry Monday to you all!

I personally like TLP's definition as I always think that.

I have faith that my new blog template will be ready while I'm still on this earth

Recycled, but what the hey.

FAITH, n. The beautiful, engaging and willing young woman who is falling into your arms when the alarm clock goes off. HAVE FAITH: Not bloody likely on your salary, mate.

First they ignore you.
Then they laugh at you.
Then they fight you.
Then you win.

     - Moandas "Mahatma" Gandhi

Wonder if he would think today's India, Pakistan and Bangladesh deserving of the faith he had in them.

Yep, if you click that right link you'll find that I am alive and well. The comment left over the weekend was indeed posted here by the real Jamie Dawn, not an imposter.

Faith is a good word to describe my situation with The Voice. I call it The Voice since IT has become its own entity.
The new doc has faith that HE possesses the surgical skill to untangle the web of my "very challenging" case. I think he ought to pay ME for the priviledge of such a challenge.

Faith: Hope's sibling.

Denial. like mizzy B says, work for me.

TLP said...

I've lost faith that Doug is around. He created our little community, then just wandered off...sort of a Secular Deist?

Doug, who? That Dawg fella? He always comes back. Anybody got a steak bone?

Minka, sehr güt gemacht. Your timing is excellent.

Morgan, I had a pastor in mind, but commander-in-chief works ok, too.

Neva, impressive quotation. Can someone be a brilliant wikipediot?

Poobah, that's actually grand theology. It's the omnipotence, isn't it?

Amen, Mutha.

Al, or the dark road to enlightenment.

Well done, g.

Haha, Mo'a, The faithful keep counting, don't they?

Good news all around, Karma.

Hermana, that's why we shout our faith, and end each profession with 'you bastard!'.

Quilly, I thought that was "Lois." Very well done with the definitions, by the way.

Somewhere, TLP.

Mireille, no one would dare steal my heart. I need it for a paperweight.

Great quote, Logo. Same to you.

Pia, I, too, am a believer.

Amoeba, probably. I think faith comes easily to the Gandhi's of the world.

Ariel, that's what I meant and better put.

JD, a throat like yours should never be cut for free!

I'm here, Mutha. Sorry, the internet at the office has been down. I may be absent during the days until it's fixed.

Actonbell, that was two hours ago. I hope it went well.

Alice, denial works for everyone.

TLP, that's a great title for me. You can see my comment just above to Mutha. I'm trying to fix the office internet. Honest.
