Relative temperature

Acetelyne might well burn hotter
Than lava when it meets the water
But if you want to see enamel glisten
Ask for interest from a politician.
But no earthly fire that can be kept
Will move curmudgeons who have overslept.

LATER, adj.  After an indefinite period, such as never.

You're really slacking off lately, Doug.

I'm first because I have you in my Google Reader.

From how fast a child learns the real meaning of "later" you can tell how they will make their ways in life.

Later: Procrastinator's mantra. Try it - LAAAATERRR.

I have to get up on this Google Reader!

So Later is the month after Never then?

"See you later alligator"... my grandson's most common use of the word.

You and my dad share the same concept of later...When asked "When can we go to McDonalds?"... his reply "Later" - meaning Not at all; in no way; absolutely not in this lifetime!

I'll comment later.

I'm later than yesterday. I'm the 6th commenter.

Later is one of my favourite excuses on when I'm going to write. "Oh...later."

The "enamel glisten" part is just, plain brilliant and funny too.
Politicians and their cheesy, pearly white grins...
It's all so comical sometimes.

Later gator.

And what makes you think those curmudgeons oversleep?
[curmudgeon: a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man]

Now, have you ever run for office? It isn't easy.

Ok, now, I guess it's 'all relative.'

And let that be a lesson to us. You know, you don't have to keep up this hectic schedule. You're getting older now, and maybe you need more rest. Want me to get you some herbal tea? xoxo

Smart girl, Nessa. Sure I am, so dock my pay.

Ariel, I didn't realize your genius bled into child psychology although most genius does.

If not sooner, g.

Terry, one of these days I'll take you for a big mac.

Icy, that'll be fine.

Jenn, I try to do everything later when I'm not as busy.

JD, later, tater.

Minka, wir haben daß auch auf Englisch. "Never put off 'til tomorrow what you can do today." I hope the person who coined that was off the clock.

Mo'a, as far as I'm concerned it's perfectly well English.

Mule, and I'll be doing all of them.

OE, is that like a girlfriend?

Jim, I never have but it sure makes folks crabby so it feels like I did.

Actonbell, what?

Mireille, by golly, I can still blog with you young whippersnappers.

I'm almost last because I have you in my Google reader. I read you at lunch, and comment later.

Later: A paper never written, a call not returned, a date never met, and a comment never made.

LATER adj the precise tiem I will be able to take my time and enjoy blogging again. These days it's too much like work.

Cooper, your comment is almost always the first one I see when I wake up and I appreciate it.

Quilly, the best evidence for quantum theory and relativity is the approximate nature of precise times.

later = now + X

It's interesting that words once meaning "right now" soon come to mean "later," for instance "anon" "presently," "right away."

Uhm, I have a small electronic device that measures both time and temperature. So I sort of see a connection between "relative temperature" and "later". Except that I really really don't.

Later: A period of time similar to blue but less than purple. It usually smells scratchy.
