Envy

ENVY, n. The feeling hat provokes a preacher to denounce the Adversary.
I curse you, Jack Satan, in horns and in hoof,
For you're a competing divine,
And the souls you pull into your pit are proof
That your pull-pit is bigger than mine.

2006 Update: The admiration one finds for the greed of another and the burdens that rest on their back. The pleasure one seeks in knowing the secret that white's heart, in the darkness, is revealed to be black.

Envy... feelings stirred up in bohemians from things such as plane tickets outta Spain, packed suitcases, "SOLD" signs on houses and all things San Francisco...

I VOW TO LEAVE THIS PLACE SOONER RATHER THAN LATER! YES, THIS I VOW!

mdvwnr- Mad vows and no reason

I don't like this word verifier! What does it know! WHAT I ASK!

Minka is funny.

Envy: I envy in the back of my head so nobody will know that secretly...

I envy how Minka is always able to be first. Sigh.

I know you guys. It is tough being you! I don't envy you for it!

Envy: wanting to turn a window into a mirror.

P.S. All three of you who read my blog also stop by here, so I'll tell you that I'll be back soon and will answer all the comments and write all the stories and do my best to repair the shambles that has resulted. (how I envy Doug's blog!)

Envy:The feeling that renders the waters murky when viewing the beauty and magic of the ocean from the perspective of someone else's beachfront home.

ENVY: Nevada.

It's not that easy being green.

In the words of 13th century writer Thomas Aquinas...

"Envy according to the aspect of its object is contrary to charity, whence the soul derives its spiritual life... Charity rejoices in our neighbor's good, while envy grieves over it."

Sorry, didn't mean to go all Medieval on you.

Q: How do you eat a green monster?
A: Wait till he ripens, then eat him

tckprxg: ticks by proxy are green

That's okay, Minka, my envy is only skin deep.

TLP said...

Envy is a form of hatred. And mostly a disease of the young. Don't bother envying anyone. You don't know what their future holds.

BTW, what's this "feeling hat" Doug? Did Ambrose read the Harry Potter books?

Doug The Una said...

Minka, greed for envy is a real gift.

Hermana, that was hysterical. *applauds*

Pia, envy is the world's most-shared secret.

Jenna, if you only had another six hours.

Minka, someone needs to clip those wings of yours.

Gosh, Puppybrose. If only I had the Buddha's way with words. Lucky bastard.

Indie, what is it about "envy" that brings out the poet in us all? I'll sure be around when you start posting again. Your blog is still a pillar.

That's strange, Anomie. Aren't the going to inherit the Earth and all that?

Joel, or the curtain that falls across the vision when learning that someone has friends with beachfront homes.

At least a good start, Quilldancer.

O Ceallaigh, you just commented below someone from NV.

Sar, it may not be easy but it comes natural.

Joel, it's always nice to dish out a little Summa Theologicae. Tomorrow see if you can go back to first principles, Origenally.

Karma, I'm just corny enough to appreciate that joke.

And your beauty down to the marrow, Jenna.

I agree, TLP. The older I get the more that what I have seems like a pain in the butt.

Envy makes you wish and want and yearn for what others have, and it makes you angry that they have those things instead of you.
All the while, there are others who envy what you have.
Sadly, you are too busy pouting over your have-nots to notice.

Dissipates when you learn the real cost of that reflected in your dilated pupils. xoxo

Indie, you are saying it so beautifully, Sar, you are damned funny, TLP you are wise, Puppy, your man is just perfectly right.

Doug The Una said...

Jamie Dawn, everyone wants the meals I've enjoyed. It would be just enough.

Ariel, truly, the messenger knew all things. Even to my heart, made of wood.

Mireille, I envy dilated pupils.

Ariel, that just sounds gracious. Want to try again? Envy may not be your strong suit.

Envy: be careful of what you ask for...

envy: the color of your neighbor's lawn, the last piece of key lime pie served up to the person sitting next to you, and all that money every one *else* seems to have.

O'C: NV? fun-ny!

Envy~ How I feel about people who have time to play online these days...sigh

Tom & Icy said...

We covet what we want to see and ignore what we don't wish to see, but all sight is lost in the darkness so envy becomes greed that will turn back upon us with dispair. Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.

A Null Value;

(yes I stole from OC, or perhaps its just object reuse)

A feeling that no one has, although everyone suffers from others who feel it.

Doug The Una said...

G, even if it's a cheeseburger?

Puppy, that's why I trained my dogs to use on the neighbor's lawn and to take the pies from their windowsill.

Logo, and how we feel about whatever is keeping you offline.

Lammy, what worries me is when people get what they envy. I really just want a cheeseburger.

Haha, Puppybrose. A tip trip?

Mo'a that's a dolls head you're scratching. Never worked for me either.

Ariel, mesquite.

Poobah, I wish I'd thought of that.

And doesn't it always, Mutha?

Dddragon, careful you don't burn the carpet.

It was Sar, Sar.

Puppybrose, you're making me laugh now. Quit it, I'm at work and supposed to be grouchy.

Terry, I hope he's happy.

VI, the null value I get.

Weirsdo, those who feel it are the lucky ones, then.

An example of envy: "Why is Minka always first here?" Grrr!

Envy: What my x-co-workers felt towards me which lead later to my quitting my stinkin' old job.

P.S. One of the best decisions of my life. See... Envy pays off!

Cheers everyone :)

Envy -- what I feel toward those of you who can post from work. Do you have any idea how much havoc 30 or so 10 year olds could create in the even one or two unsupervised minutes they'd have if I sat down at the computer with my back to them?

Anonymous said...

envy,n. always... misdirected feelings of discontent .

I envy all who get here early,

Cooper: That#s a perfect definition!

Doug: My blog is more like a pill than a pillar. I want to say a sleeping pill, except it's kept me awake more nights than you can imagine.
