Bearing the cross in 2010 (A Holy Week Update)

To suffer for the sins of strangers,
Ain't like it used to be.
Now you carry their commentary,
Instead of your own tree.

The modern Via Dolorosa
Has now been repaved,
With kittens, kids and crimes
Uploaded to be saved.

Our piercings come by links not spears
Our crown of thorns, the Net,
Our stigmata, the array of tears
Of those we haven't met.

So if you'd trail the Savior's course,
Through Passion Week, undyin',
Stable up the glorious horse,
And ride your ass online.

ATONEMENT, n. The correction of sin, effectively by suffering your victims.

This is so good, I'm not even going to make a wisecrack about it.

Okay. That's enough time for admiring.

Atonement: lifting weights for Jesus.

In sin there are no strangers. :-P

Funny poem!

I don't go to the places, I don't like, hence I won't carry that cross.
Nor will I be burned at the stake. Not yet.

Most of us would rather palm these Sunday jobs off on someone else.

I'm tone deaf. Others do suffer for me. Or because of me.

~ I get the feeling you are saying we cause you pain. But that just couldn't be?

Well ladies, as we all well know by now,

"It's a dog blog not a cat blog."

... So stable up and fear not the glorious warhorse.

I forgot. What is this Wednesday poem supposed to be about?

Oh that's right. The modern Via Dolorosa and associated commentary.

Atonement: A personal apology, given in hopes of Someone, somewhere, bestowing forgiveness...

Sorry, but who is Via Delorosa?

Atonement:... Aged cannabis, in olive oil, given by Jesus to the self perceived sinners, for they had the moral thoughts and self doubts.

Scratching my head here, having just got back for a holiday break, trying to find something witty to say but unable to.
This is really good!

Amen, TLP.

Ariel, that belongs in a requiem. And a brothel song.

Nicole, is there anyone more confidant than a German woman in Egypt?

Quilly, you're a very gentle teacher.

Weirsdo, that was almost Quilly-style. You're right of course.

Nessa, it isn't. But I haven't heard you sing yet.

Right you are, Karen.

Thanks, Coop. You came for worship? May the Lord make his face shine upon you.

You bet, Karen.

Terry, sounds like bear caught you in a good mood. Via Dolorosa is the "way of suffering" from Pilate's court to Golgotha, where crucifixions were done..

Rabbit rabbit, Actonbell.

C.J., three occasions on which nobody should feel compelled to wit: the day after vacation, April Fool's Day, and whenever people are running around saying "rabbit rabbit" to bring good luck. Today is all of those days.
