Howdy Doug!
Just thought I'd return the site visits! Haven't heard Ambrose Bierce lines since College! I didn't realized I missed them!

Manjusha, the cowboy's a hostage who takes himself. Cowperson, I mean. The cow seeks the cowhand's ransom.

Thanks, Neverafrown, although it's hard to trust a poet who smiles a lot. Or a blogger for that matter.

Tarun! Namaste! How the hell have you never been here before?!?

Or the horse is someone who runs away with the unsuspecting rider (i.e. hostage). Tells you a little something about my sole horse episode!

Horse: Anomoly...much like GWB, people are oddly drawn to this creature who is nonetheless full of crap.

Note - no horses were injured in the making of this comment.

I think the dove is always and forever the #1 choice to represent what is known as modern love!

Though a horse has magnificant beauty of its own!

Manjusha, a man named Williamson, I believe, who wrote the seminal book on the breaking and training of horses said he'd never been on a runaway horse because he can ride as fast as a horse can run. You're always headed somewhere.

Sar, glad you used models.

Morningdew, you have to be the sunniest person on the internet. Were you like this before you converted?

There is something magnificent about horses and the ability to control them. A horse can feel if you know what you are doing or not and will act accordingly.
If it senses your fear it will become afraid of your lacking ability and try to push you off.
The Icelandic horses have 5 movements rather than the four like everywhere else...in no relation to anything else, just thought I´d mention.

That's interesting about icelandic horses. I wonder if the fifth gait is a rolling shiver. I agree about how magnificent a good horse is. The one in the picture is so alert to the rider that you forget about the reins and the kicks and all. Smokey and I could ride into a herd of forty or fifty cattle and he always seemed to know if I wanted to cut out one and which and how. Of course, I've cussed him a lot too.

Tan Lucy, such a treat to have one of the lovely and talented Pez girls drop by. Let me guess, The Devil made you do it?

Speaking of male sex symbols, Karma, did you see that our friend Tarun came by for the first time today? I've read his blog. He ain't that busy.

Horse is how I feel with a frog in my throat. Willie and who? Hummingbirds hum because they don't know the words.

Doug The Una said...

Icy, Walela is the boss on right. Willie looks just like me.

Doug on top of old Smokey: the paragon of equestrian ecstasy.

Had a horse, Topper, a Quarterhorse, put his foot on top of mine and he put just enough weight on it to make sure I could not pull my foot out. No pain involved though there sure could have been. I pushed and pulled at him to make him move. I sware the critter just smiled. It wasn't till I threatened to bite his ear that he moved off my foot. A horse can be quite a character.

Gabriel - Ohhh. I get it.

I'm actually kind of afraid of horses.

Doug The Una said...

Prying, Smokey was similar. Topper sounds like a good friend.

Jamie Dawn, they're prety big. It's a natural reaction.

Cute, Karma. And not far off, from my reading. Two ships passing in the night, I suppose.

That's a good question Doug! I think I will explore it!

Morningdew, I look forward to reading about that on your site.

Still laughing as I type, comfort addict.
