HEMP, n. A plant from whose fibrous bark is made an article of neckwear which is frequently put on after public speaking in the open air and prevents the wearer from taking cold.
I believe I'm first ... to ask: "um, wasn't hemp once smoked by hippies? Or am I mistaking it for something?" And, Doug, I thought this was a FAMILY blog. xoxo
1. According to Jamie Brockett, the real reason the Titanic went down.
2. The fellow who replaced Curly on the Three Stoo ... No, wait, that was SHEMP. What was I smokin' ...?
Hemp (N) saviour of many in WW1 and WW2...a cloak to many...the scorn of many a ditch within the american midwest, yet woven into her early flags..........Greetings,yet another sweet day has grown out of the dawn, birds a singing, coffee hot,sky blue--Wishing you a great day too :-)
Hemp - There are many uses of this plant. My favorite form of it is the strong cotton-like fiber, which is fabulous for all-natural clothing, ropes, and my hemp fanny-pack. It also smells good when burned.
I went to Hemp Fest on the Boston Common years ago. It features many folks indulging in the fruit of the Righteous tree and making speeches about how the Founding Fathers were all hemp farmers.
"Jefferson would have wanted it this way, man!" *giggle*
Volt egyszer egy ember,
szakálla volt kender.
Fölmászott egy fára,
leesett a sárba.
Két kutya húzta,
a harmadik meg nyúzta.
Children's rhyme about a man who had a beard of hemp. He climbed up on a tree, fell, and three dogs ate him.
Ha ha Ariel - would love to hear it in english.
Hemp: I saw an ad for hemp shoes yesterday in the paper. The ad says you don't smoke this hemp, rope and shoes are made of it.
I haven't said anything to those people yet, maybe they don't smoke it but a lot of others do.
If you are where people are in the Midwest, you won't find any of the wild hemp plants still having their tops (seeds, tender leaves, and the like).
I never did smoke that stuff but did smoke some other nice wild weeds.
hemp: a multi-useful plant - I think Woody Harrelson is a big hemp promoter
Ariel's story reminds me of Jezebel who I believe was eaten by dogs too. Maybe she was wearing a hemp necklace at the time.
Careful, Jim. Industrial hemp wouldn't get a fly high, Cheech. And that's assuming the hemp is indeed from a Cannabis plant - there are many other kinds of plant that form a hemp.
Hemp: the fiber that supports the stock of the cannabis plant, famous for the flower that grows there upon.
The cannabis plant was made illegal by the U.S. Government the same year the hemp-gin made removing the ultra-strong fiber from the plant as easy as the cotton-gin made extracting cotton fibers.
In modern times the hemp can be grown without the principle chemical in the famous flower. Thus hemp fiber is once again used in clothing; although it's so expensive it's used sparingly and the clothes just don't last like they should.
Terry, I cannot do rhymes but I give you the word for word translation, will you write the poem of it? I am excited. Here it goes:
Once there was a man
He had a beard of hemp
He climbed up on a tree
He fell in the dirt
Two dogs pulled him
The third one was skinning him
Uncle Mary was crying
Uncle Leslie was laughing
(Forgot the last two lines.)
hemp: rope of grass.
hemp: "Everything's gonna be alright!" I once went to Cristiania in Copenhagen. It was a blurry day!
What Oscar Wilde had to pick while in prison. They called it "oakum."
The day as blossomed into a sky of pondering rain, thought i would drop by...still have hemp on the mind,,,innovative nations allow it as a "growth"
industry-fiber,cloth,oil,edibles... Iceland would do well to consider a flax and hemp industry, combined with native wool-could be next kevlar...Peace to You and Yours
I have nothing for hemp, though I'm sure it has many uses.
I did learn in my search for hemp...
There is a "vote hemp website". and several websites selling hemp products, from hemp coffee to hemp facial cream.
If i didn't stop here just think what
I'd be missing.
HEMP isn't that Mary Jane's last name?
Mireille, there are many kinds of family, nearly all unwholesome.
Amoeba, you are a collector of theories, aren't you?
Bear, I hope it was a grand day for you.
Terry, I'd heard that about how it smells burnt.
Ariel, I don't know that one. It's like I was never a child.
JD, one must be careful with necklaces.. That's why I wear one of garlic.
Amoeba, and enough botanists to use them all.
Morgan, you were ready for this, weren't you?
Ariel, I'm laughing. Could that be Aunt Mary and Aunt Leslie?
Mule, for lashing down the agenda and yoking the imagination?
Minka, smoke gets in your eyes.
Actonbell, I was just wondering if you could barbecue hemp. I guess we all have our vices.
Weirsdo, is that the derivation of "hokum?"
Bear, they probably just need a native son with vision(s) to lead the way.
Cooper, the advanced degree you're working on would be fairly meaningless, wouldn't it?
Quilly, yes. In Latin, Indica sanctimonius
Doug, the proper version has one aunt and one uncle, I am sure. :-)
I don't think so, Doug.
Uncle Leslie, then, Ariel.
Weirsdo, is there any reason to answer that particular question honestly?
