Pilgrim

PILGRIM, n. A traveler that is taken seriously. A Pilgrim Father was one who, leaving Europe in 1620 because not permitted to sing psalms through his nose, followed it to Massachusetts, where he could personate God according to the dictates of his conscience.

2008 Update:  A pious apostle, revered by neighbors for emigrating.

We must respect the right to sing psalms through the nose. Good point. I should read Pilgrim's Progress. I always meant to. Thanks for the reminder. xoxo

Not me! I'll stick in my own back yard. There's nothing I love more.

Great minds think alike. I thought of John Wayne immediately.

ahhh, crap. okay, so cannot use the John Wayne reference either.

Anywho...

pilgrim: critter seen only around turkey day. Unless you live near Plymouth or a New England Plantation.

This definition comes to you from the waterfront in Waikiki, and after a brief glance around I'd have to say:

PILGRIM n. all who flock to Hawaii to worship the sun, the sea, and alcoholic beverages.

PILGRIM, n. Profit center. See MECCA.

Actonbell, the pilgrim is never the first to arrive.

Mireille, this reminder was brought to you by the American Association of Library Scolds.

Icy, maybe one day terriers will make the Hajj there.

TLP, and I put on an eye-patch.

Sauerkraut, they sneak up.

And the flowers, Quilly?

Amoeba, see GRACELAND.

Ariel, or the one with only his own feet in the shot.

True PILGRIMS wear a minimum of two buckles. The buckles can be on their shoes, hats, or at their waist.
They must also be aliens who have travelled from their homeland in search of a great place to manufacture buckles.

Have a good day, Pilgrim.
My son, his friend, and my hubby are in Burbank, CA at this moment. The boys left from Little Rock early this morning and Hubby drove down from Patterson to meet them. They are having Taylor's CD mastered and they are also going to eat In n Out burgers. Tay's friend is a drummer who played on the CD, and he is thrilled to visit CA. Please send them a virtual wave from your desk there. They are pilgrims from AR.

Pilgrim---one who flees to worship as one pleases,,,only then to condemn those who worship differently from their style....Pantheism---opposite of Watts doctrine....Outrageous---(1)the actions of pilgrims to other worship styles(witch burning),(2)the actions brought on by watts doctrine....Projectile---item used to persuade one to abandon one's belief, and adopt the belief of projectile owner.......Well so much for my rant and rave...May the beauty of love overcome the ?beauty? of money and religion...Peace Love Prosperity ALWAYS

What's your point, Doug?

I feel left out, I don't get the John Wayne thing....

I had to look it up as well, Cooper. Guess I've forgotten most of the John Wayne movies I've seen.

Reportedly [Wayne] used the expression "Pilgrim", as in "tenderfoot" or "dude" or "amateur", 23 times in [the film The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance], and once also in McLintock!. It became a catchphrase for impressionists such as John Byner, and Rich Little). - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Wayne
