Ignoramus

IGNORAMUS, n. A person unacquainted with certain kinds of knowledge familiar to yourself, and having certain other kinds that you know nothing about.
Dumble was an ignoramus,
Mumble was for learning famous.
Mumble said one day to Dumble:
"Ignorance should be more humble.
Not a spark have you of knowledge
That was got in any college."
Dumble said to Mumble: "Truly
You're self-satisfied unduly.
Of things in college I'm denied
A knowledge — you of all beside."

Mark twain once said that:

"Education is the path from cocky ignorance to miserable uncertainty"

better get used to Ignoramus then, ´cause it seems like it´s going to stick around for a bit!

Doug -- I have found childhood to be a stae of mind, rather than a parameter defined by age.

But is an ignoramus blissful? Inquiring minds want to know.

Ignoramus'n'andy: a couple of warm, funny -- but sometimes clueless -- black guys, created/portrayed by a couple of smart, talented -- and not so much "clueless" as white -- guys. (fortunately, by the time the show made it to TV, that minor "detail" was corrected).

i'm sorry, but you knows how much ah loves mah radio/tv trivia.

Minka, those are both great quotes. I remember Socrates' always and translate it from the Greek as "He who believes himself smarter than a box of rocks is a pebblehead."

Oh, that's good news, Sis, thanks. I'll redecorrect.

True, Karen. And two half-wits make a quarter-wit.

Quilly, that's a common discovery of the guilty.

Diesel, Groundhog Day really messed you up, then, probably.

TLP, most days, thanks for asking.

Puppy, I does.

Ick, Jamie Dawn. Ick!

I'm tempted to sling mud at blogger by calling it an ignoramous for eating my comment several comments back... but my mother told me if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all, and she always had good advice.
