Salacity

SALACITY, n. A certain literary quality frequently observed in popular novels, especially in those written by women and young girls, who give it another name and think that in introducing it they are occupying a neglected field of letters and reaping an overlooked harvest. If they have the misfortune to live long enough they are tormented with a desire to burn their sheaves.

2010 Update: Mammalhood.

I'm sure I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about.

Hey Doug, I needed some help with this one. Google was much more explicit than you were. Too explicit for my kiddie filter. ;)
You first observation was made way before computers wasn't it. In the second you put things very mildly.
..
If you need any chastising I will let your critics to that. I only observe what goes on here now-a-days.

With all due respect, Mrs. Mitchell, you won the Nobel Prize in 1937 for Gone With The Wind. David O. Selnick released the associated film epic in 1939. The movie was an overnight sensation and won eight Academy Awards. You died in 1949, but GWTW lives on. The only thing burning still is Atlanta.

That Pansi, Girl, you invented salacity. (Or at least perfected it.)

Frankly, Margaret, I can't explain it to you.

Jim, I don't know what Google's showing you but it means lust.

Karen, I would presume that Ms. Mitchell would know the part about her deceasement.

I'll take your word for it, TLP.

Sauerkraut, that's a lost opportunity.

I have no idea, Karen.

If it were, Ariel, it would be even rarer.

Thom, I'm going to trust that you know what you mean.

Karen, I think you've developed a wikitic.

I don't know, Actonbell. Maybe you should switch to a scrabble tile.

Bien, bien, Amigo. Feliz compleaƱos. ¿Y tu?

Pansi, it's true and tastes like rosewater.

And most of the European subcontinent, Cooper.

C.J., that's a really great example. Ta.

Does Mr. C.J. Duffy have an axe to grind?

Yeah I do Doug and I know it doesn't fit very well or well at all but it's the only thing I could think of. LOL Someone has to keep everyone guessing and it might as well be me :)

I don't think so, Karen. Maybe a Wodehouse to read.

Thom, you'd be my pick.
