Imbecility
Imbecility, n. A kind of divine inspiration, or sacred fire affecting censorious critics of this dictionary.
2005 Update: That which compelled creation of the social services and governs them still.
Dddragon, the second link is terrific. I'm going to explore that later.
Weirsdo, thanks for the illustration.
Jamie Dawn, that could be an example, yes.
Aral, you are confusing me with Doug the Una who works in Fashion. I am an executive in the social services and imbecile. Didn't mean to take you to the bad place. (See?)
Sar, can I take a shot at your definition? Submitting one's will to the opinion of those without knowledge.
Hah, Ariel. You just paraphrased a favorite of mine, that stupidity is the lack of simplicity.
Imbecile, n. Applied to people acting contrary to ones anal expectations. A word used by Monika in Icelandic traffic every day. Especially during the morning hours, when everybody drives half asleep and I can barely keep my eyes open ;)
I don't know, TLP. Sleeping on someone's lawn because you don't hear her open the garage door, f'rinstance.
Fred, I knew public school was a haven for the intolerant left! Brown was the best possible Director, he just wasn't prepared for a hurricane. I bet if the World Trade Center falls again we're ready.

Well, we're about to go out the door this morning, and all I could think of was what websites might be close to this word:

Goa'uld is calling for us to leave now ...
Loved the definitions today. Can only add "Amen," and leave Pansi's picture here.

Imbecility,n.,
1. The state of being constantly at the end of one's wits. In some cases, it is not far to go.
2. A force unto itself. A thing more difficult to fight against than evil.
Boarding up your mobile home and deciding to ride out the storm.
Great definition, Doug. You know a lot about the social services for someone in the fashion industry!
That word makes me think of the Three Stooges and my brother, Nivek Army Ranger Pez.
I might rant about Garvey, Jackson and the 77 World Series a little later... it will be draining, though, sad memory that it is.
Imbecility is next to senility, especially as it pertains to Dubya.

Ooops, TLP! Sorry! Both of those definitions are good. I suffer the first, and we all seem to suffer imbeciles.
Imbecility, n. Passing a friend without saying hello.
How I feel trying to think of something to write here
im..ability!
imbecility-that which makes us wake up each day and think, "Today is going to be a better day."
Icy, I had a benefit you don't have. In my case, the word is self-referential.
Sreekesh, that's very 21st century. You should have my job.
Masil, in my case too there's a fine line between optomism and cognitive disabililty.

Imbecility synonym? FEMA
Nice pun, Actonbell. Like fish are waterproof.
They're everywhere I drive, too, Monika. Especially when I'm talking on my cellphone.
A rich source, a4g.
Fred, the folks I knew at FEMA in the 90s were bright. What changed?
duu-uuhhh?
ycotacjj: a stupid coyote wearing pajamas
Note to Acton Bell: Nothing can be foolproof, 'cause fools are so ingenius.
Doug, they were bright until we got a dim president. The lower wattage flows downhill...
Karma, who you kiddin'?
Alice, I love it.
