doug: no prob. I was curious what Google would do with it, and the US Dept of Labor was number one. That made me curious, so I asked define: labor party, it came up with the Israeli Labor Party first (and second).

This one isn't nearly as loaded as it seems...or is it?

Ya gotta love a country that delcares a holiday in honor of working.
Taking full advantage of the holiday, I'll leave my comment at that.
vurpgp - the involuntary reaction of the group to my comment.
Dddragon, I expected that definition to be third or fourth. Well done! Cool that you got your brother-in-law as a verifier.
Exactly, Karma, a donut.
Actonbell, I don't know about you but this is the last time I make that mistake.
Sure do, Sar. Especially one where no-one takes a vacation. I made more of an "eep" sound.

Labor, n. What the Goa'uld force their humans slaves to do (example: mining for Naquada).
Labor, n., from the old sing for one's supper.
Drudgery in a blue collar. Pain usually for someone else's gain.
Whoops, sorry Gabriel. I'd say it just got loaded.
Pia, any what?
Goa'uld, I get so tired of mining for Naquada. The edges always scrape my knees, the drills are too heavy and coffee breaks every three days? Please!
Tan Lucy, sounds like you're with Bierce on this one.
I'm with actonbell.... Labor is a joke that humans play on ourselves because we've forgotten how to be proper animals.
Labor, n. the political party that advocates workers' interests. (Well, everything's politicalized now, ain't it?)

the effort of finding a place to sleep in peace
AP3, you should see my house.
Yes, Dddragon everything is. Are you sure that's what the Labor Party advocates?
Icy, I love that definition. Reminds me of the old saw of "He ain't afraid at work, he can sleep right next to it."
Me too, a4g.
Labor,n. What we call work we don't like, but either way the Italians have found a way to do it better.

Doug: that's what googling for the definition came up with!
Laborliness is next to cleanliness is next to Godliness! Praise be to Jesus!
labour: if you add a 'u' to it as in the Queen's English, it's what the Brits made us do for 200 years :(
yqokr: a resident Quaker from NY
Alice, by "do it better" you mean less often? The blurring effect was criminal, by the way,
Monika, very funny definitions today. Regarding your second definition, that's why I can't define investment.
Dddragon, that's a pretty credible source. My apologies for asking.
Praise be, Soapy.
Karma, you guys are lucky they didn't make you do labor. That's hard work. I think you should get an English maid, by the way.
Labor: Dreaded but nearly always rewarded.
doug: no prob. I was curious what Google would do with it, and the US Dept of Labor was number one. That made me curious, so I asked define: labor party, it came up with the Israeli Labor Party first (and second).
Interesting how we learn things!
Jamie Dawn, by nearly always you mean...I don't want to start something without knowing the odds.
Dddragon, it surely is. Interesting how that came up. My cynicism was based on the British Labor Party.
Exactly right.
