Oh!!! dear...I will be back...need to think about this.
Then again, the only time I beat anything with a stick was my parents Saeng on Bolludagur.
Stiletto shoes work just as well for foot torture.
BASTINADO, n. - Can we line up every elected official in DC and give them a whack? Maybe borrow TLP's Stiletto's?
Wacking the souls of the feet?
Must be why we walk into church.
Sounds like a Spanish swear-word to me. "Bastinado, Maria Teresa García Ramírez de Arroyo, usted comió pescados de atún otra vez!"
Man, am I slow today ...
BASTINADO, n. The agony of de feet, , Jim.
Oooohhhhh, good one Amoeba.
I agree with Ariel that it sounds Spanish. Bastinado in Barcelona: no one expects the inquisition.
Ah, Amoeba, that is good! For some reason, it took me a couple beats because I'm the slow one.
The word makes me cringe. Though I see from looking it up some people derive pleasure from the punishment.
Something I could have lived without knowing, but thank you for the opportunity.
Didn't The Eagles sing about that one time...."Bastinado, you better come to your senses, you've been out riding fences for so long now..."?
Well, if you're going to call me names I shall take my toys and go home!
Mo'a, you were well motivated in that case.
I can imagine, TLP. They cause second-hand torture as well, sometimes.
OK by me, Thom.
Exactly, Saurkraut. Better to be a slow-moving target within an exposed back than a bound one without shoes.
Ariel, or as in "¡Bastinado! If you are going to shoot, don't talk. Just shoot."
Amoeba, I agree with many others. That was good.
Right, TLP?
Actonbell, was that a Python skit?
Cooper, nowadays you really need to think before you look something up. I went safely to Wikipedia.
Close, Terry. I think it was "Castanedas..."
Quilly, have you been bad again?
Still ... Using the word again implies that I once stopped.
LoL, tErrY!
