BOLOGNA-SAUSAGE, n. A dead dog that is better than a living lion, but not to eat.

2010 Update: A mixed meat crafted according to regulation rather than recipe.

Fried ham, fried ham, cheese and baloney....sorry. I got caught up in an old Girl Scout memory.

Bologna sausage: it has a half-life of at least 100 years. It may spoil, but it will not biodegrade in your lifetime.

Bologna sausage: It is better to just eat it, and not ask too many questions.

LOL Terry!

It sure is not the same in a romantic and a horror movie.

BOLOGNA (sausage), n. One of the most despised words in the English language, disparaged in equal proportions by food aficionados, spelling reformers, and the Bolognese d'Italia.

sometruc - jeez, Huck, what a mess!

I was thinking of the Louisiana man's invention. For his boudin sausage he washed out the casings with water. Most others scrape them out.
Some prefer casings made from the inside of hides.
Cellulose casings are removed from the hot dogs after they are cooked and before packaging.
Plastic casings are used on ham and bologna and the like. Those casings are sprayed with meat protein to help sticking to the meat.

I'd rather have sausage patties. With catsup of course. My cardiologist's dietician says I can eat anything in moderation

Hello, Ambrose. How are we all doing today? It is Friday and Thank God for that ...

If we'd like regulated mixed meat, may I suggest Jeff's Gourmet Kosher Sausage Factory on West Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles:

"Freshness is Guaranteed and all sausages, deli meats and salads are made on premises.

Savor the flavor of classic age-old traditional recipes, and experience the richness of nouveau sausages, fashioned with modern sensibilities.

At Jeff's Gourmet we make everything from scratch, using the finest meats, fresh herbs, stocks and California wines".

Let's finish Thom's memory ...

My Bologna has a first name,
It's O.S.C.A.R.
My Bologna has a second name,
It's M.A.Y.E.R.
I love to eat it every day
And if you ask me why I'll say
'Cuz Oscar Mayer has a way
With b.o.l.g.n.a.

martr anybody who has to listen to me sing, especially if they're doing so while eating bologna sausage.

I got as far as "containing cubes of lard" a recently consumed sashimi crawled back up my throat.

Oscar's right. I mean--Thom's right.
This brings up a humorous memory, which I will dredge up to be obnoxious and boring. Mike & I landed in the Cancun airport onetime, and an adorable drug-sniffing dog went berserk over some guy's luggage. And--you guessed it: this guy was coming home to Mexico with some good ol' American Oscar Mayer baloney. It wasn't refrigerated, but as Mom says, it's superpreserved. They confiscated it, and I hope hardworking pooch got some:)

That's a comfort, TLP. I don't know if I'd want to live in a world where the baloney went bad.

Terry, I was taught not to speak with my mouth full anyway.

Haha, Ariel.

And yet appreciated by the fry pan, Amoeba. Enemies are a sign of strength.

Jim, boudin was a pretty good trick I thought. With hot sauce, you betcha.

Thanks for the tip, Karen.

Thom, I was wondering when I posted if we could get through the day without someone typing in the words to their bologna song.

Cooper, raw fish will do that to you.

That's funny, Actonbell. Nobody should say those drug dogs don't save lives. Kind of doubly funny that having found the baloney, they confiscated it.

Well, congratulations to #Karen and @Actonbell.

Rabbit rabbit, Sis.
