I got lucky. Having gone to bed sober for a change, I breezed through this morning's word verification.

Doug, Minka's right. Please delete my comment. She deserves the first slot.

Minka, I'm sorry, and please feel better. And I promise, from now on, I'll drink myself to sleep. (Hmmm. Can't wait to tell this story at the next AA meeting.)

De-Serve: An art that only men appear to be able to perform. You know, instead of fixing the leaky faucet a man will just call a plummer so that said man can watch the football game and get completely piss drunk. However, women do not call in a maid serive to wash dishes so that they can go get their nails done.

...so maybe SOME women do...

OC!! HA, Y'all sit a spell, ye hear?!

Oh, Solace! I detect a tinge of bitterness there! Ouch! Personally, God love 'em, I call the plumber. I DESERVE to have a toilet that doesn't run constantly or a shower head that doesn't also wash the rugs.

The amoeba said...

Yeah, SC, it does swing both ways. Crede expertum. sounds like you need a new family, or a new dorm crowd, or both.

But hey. Certain people have been telling men that they're bicycles for fish for the last 50 years. Why are we surprised when they are? Sometimes we do get what we deserve.

By the way, I was also going to point out in this era of entitlement, the word deserve should get quite a few cracks today. Not saying this crowd is...never mind.

What do I deserve?
To know who "a" is and is "a" the same person as anonymous? I deserve to know who are/is these/this?.....clever, erudite and scholarly people/person are/is.....and what they are doing here with the likes of me and lamp shade lady?.....who usually confuses/makes me jealous with her whit and aplomb :)
Sorry LSL you deserved that *snicker*
I deserve to be back in Bermuda.

Verification ubbih...u be boiled in hell......I don't deserve that!!!!!

Doug The Una said...

Right, a. Or a constituent's greed, absolutely.

Minka, you did deserve to be first. I still have some of that water you gave me yesterday if it'll help.

Indie, in retrospect, always.

Ariel, everything we deserve, yes. For what they deserve there aren't enough boots in the world.

Minka, that is a good quote. Do you play darts?

Not to worry, a, by now we all transpose in our heads anyway.

Solace, I'm not sure that's entirely-WHOA! GREAT PASS! DID YOU SEE THAT?

O Ceallaigh, with that one you deserve the tray.

I don't understand, Diane. How do you wash the rugs, then?

O Ceallaigh, I think te bicycle for fish trope belongs to a previous generation. Yours and mine.

And you deserve two scoops, SACADA.

Anonymous, I'd agree if the parts of speech matched.

Puppybrose, we'll call it a tie.

Puppybrose, I'm actually starting to agree. The doers are killing us.

Jenna, and a cherry on top.

I deserve no less, K.

Brian, this week you managed to summarize the week at Waking Ambrose and bloggerwide.

a, here at Waking Ambrose the dung is implied.

g, I think we just did get what we deserve.

Miz B, really it isn't that big a city. I grant it to you.

cj, you're a good woman. For must of us, the disortion is when we feel differently.

Ariel, Possession of karma with the intent to distribute is already a crime.

Mo'a I have a guess as to whom the new anonymous is, but I'm not sure. You deserve an answer.

Kyahgirl said...

along the lines of dear Ambrose, deserve=covet

Mo'a said...

Are the initials DP? Will I boil in hell?

Doug The Una said...

And visa-versa, Kyahgirl. Absolutely.

Mo'a, see what happens when you go sending muses all over the place? I'm not the anonymous above, but I suspect (s)he is someone who used to comment here under a different name.

Anonymous said...

mo'a: The "a" is for "Al", my real honest-to-gosh name, which is how I'll sign from now on.

I started with just one comment on Pia's blog several months ago, and am now kinda hooked.

As for any claim to cleverness or erudition, you're way too kind. I just look smart when I hang around all these smart and lovely people (you included).

The other "anonymous" is still just that. He/she's not me. Shame, maybe, 'cause I liked her/his comment.

Minka: are we, uhh, OK? That vapor steaming out of your ears might be a greenhouse gas. NOT good, especially for Penguins. :-)

a, seems we have more in common than just going by initials (which incidentally has that noncommital - who me? I'm not a blogger just a commenter written all over it thing that I'm acquainted with).

Give it time, we'll be visitng your blog before long...then you can tell us what's going on in your AA meetings.

TLP said...

Well, I don't deserve credit, nor blame. I'm just breezin' along with the breeze. Not sayin' there's a lot of hot air goin' on today. I would never do that.

G said...

mo'a, by the way, most of all I confuse myself. But I am always glad to be in your good company, even though you did get to go to Bermuda while I eeked out an existance here in Queens, NYC. Sure, you deserved that, I didn't.

A, I'd give you credit for clever and erudite. As for Minka, I can assure you she forgives a lot. If I knew how, I'd put a redlight/greenlight people could toggle when they want to be the next commenter.

Cheesemeister, I guess that's one way to make nachos.

g, I remember your moment of humility. They grow up so fast.

TLP, loan me a sheet and a basket and I think I can make it for supper.

g, your mistake has been seeking Mo'a's company online. You oughta crawl into her suitcase.

Quilldancer, I liked how you did that. I bet you're a fine teacher.

Minka, I'm glad. I was going to suggest you could clip some a's out of the paper and put them on your dartboard. I can see the storm has passed for now.

a, are you sure it doesn't mostly end up on the pavement around the corner?

Honestly, Logo, I have no guess.

I don't, Sar. Not at all. First and foremost because I found your quest for 47 hilarious. It's a day for disappointments.

Mo'a, you've made a lot of friends here but I think you may be down by one today.

Nah!!! she wants me to come, so my suitcase is open just in case.....I'm just saying in case someone wants to forgive me.

so "AA" stands for Anonymous Al?

i go away for a few lousy minutes to collect my thoughts, along with a few butterflies (which are forever, but i digress) and i come back to find this whole discussion thing going on behind my back. harumph! what the hell did i do to deserve that? or am i taking things wa-a-ay too seriously right now, in which case: nevermind, carry-on, and buh-bye.

oh, and Al? SO glad to know you have an actual name to go along with all those incredibly clever comments (seriously, you're good)... as for starting a blog of your own? as much as i suspect it would be nothing short of brilliant, i would only suggest you read THIS before ya commit. (just sayin'... blogging can be bad for your health, and you deserve to know the truth before you get in too deep)

Al, by legal residence I'm from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Georgia, Southern California, Eastern California and Nevada. I am not from New York.

Mo'a your suitcase is some of the best real estate in New Jersey.

Darn you, puppy! You'd let a fly out of a web, wouldn't you? Busybody!

Hold'em out, Kyah.

Al, maybe, say, a nature walk would help? Down by the stream?

Charlene Amsden said...

Doug, a former Nevadan is a good thing to be. I wish I deserved such a blessing.

Great word today, great people, and far better treatment than I deserve. Can't believe I took this Friday off to paint a bathroom. Comin' out on the Everywhere-Man's blog was, like, way more fun.

For me, back to the lead-lined lab on Monday. Great weekend, all, and thanks again.

Anonymous said...

Al, just don't let the Dawg walk behind you... that's all i'm saying.

Quilldancer, when we were young (which, of course, means a *long* time ago) my sister saw a street named "Nevada" and said, "oh look, that's almost like *your* name... Neeva-da!" (since my name is pronounced with a long "e") and, yes, she is blond, why do you ask? (blond... and a *doctor* i should say, before i get another whack on the back side of my head...) anyway, my point (for i have one) is that i can never look at Nevada without thinking "Neeva-duh" (hmmm. perhaps i should have shared this little anecdote yesterday?)

i hear you all jeering, even as i back out of this blog... i know i deserve it. sigh.

And, do you have a blog, too, or just a profile?

Sar said...

Usurping a 47 from me?! Oh Mo'a, Mo'a, Mo'a. As for taking me to see my sassy sistah in Spain? Well, all I have to say is...good recovery, my friend! ;)

Mo'a said...

Yeah Doug, who would want a McMansion after they have seen my magic suitcase.

OK!! Sar careful you don't spike a hole....move over people Sar is here. OOOops!!!was that your eye...Sar!!!!

Ariel the Thief said...

Al, I don't know blogger's colour codes. FFF and 9E0 are two different colours on the hexadecimal triple color code site, FFF is a very calm and soft shade of almost white (the colour makes Sade look like a godess), and 9E0 is a lively green. am I any close?

Anonymous said...

Very close, Ariel. Beige. (I'm a guy, so, any color that isn't red or green or blue is beige.)

*What? Just lookin' stuff up. I'm shutting it down now. (shhh, everybody, shhh) Yeah, I'll get to it. I cleaned the roller and stirred the paint...*

See how that ole word deserve lored them out Doug? That what you intended? "My my my said the spider to the fly". And yes Puppybrose would let a fly free which lets her off the hook and keeps you on it - alone in your vicious killing spree!

Not only have I seen your Magic Suitcase - it's rather comfy! Adalante Senorita!

Al, if Doug mentions a stream again - run! Run like the wind! That's all I can say. Oh and on AA - don't worry, a good chunk of my family tree has spent time in "the rooms". Just joshing about spilling about it. Of course in an anonymous amusing way wouldn't hurt anybody...

MizB, please don't let him trick you, stay on your toes.

Quill, the border is often unguarded and if you win or lose big in the casinos, I bet they'll help you across. The northern part of the State is nice. Clark County always did seem like a hole to me, though.

You too, Al. Any painting happen?

Haw haw, Puppy!

Al, Ariel has a site where she occasionally posts photos she's taken and she's very gifted. She's held out against the blog longer than I thought possible.

Sar, you forgot to tell Mo'a to stay off the mantle. I think that's key.

Mo'a, it looked roomier on the outside.

Ariel, that's part of why you're a great photographer. Sade would look good in Mo'a's magic suitcase, too.

Al, I hear you about the colors. I used the word "Teal" today but meant "a green (beige) duck"

Miz B, I'm sorry you had to learn from g. I should have been the one to tell you. Your brother is a virtual serial killer. There's one in every family. Don't blame yourself, although a little more affection and approval growing up wouldn't have killed anybody.

G, my intention is never 70 comments.

Deal, Sar, but you better have answered my comment on your site.
