Famous

Famous, adj. Conspicuously miserable.
Done to a turn on the iron, behold
Him who to be famous aspired.
Content? Well, his grill has a plating of gold,
And his twistings are greatly admired.

Fame,n. Eminence often accelerated after death.
A useless and frivolous commodity, it is lusted after by many, and used as currency by those who have it.

Famous, adj. used to describe celebrities who are mostly known for their well-knownness.
Imitated by teenagers.

famous; the old Andy Warhol cliche about everybody having 15 minutes has now been updated to include anybody who has ever been seen on reality TV, heard on radio talk shows or commented on a political blog, or Waking Ambrose

You're too abstract for me today, Doug, however...

famous-people who get a lot of free swag, usually without deserving it

You're giving me another Bowie earworm?!

Fame, (fame) makes a man take things over
Fame, (fame) lets him loose, hard to swallow
Fame, (fame) puts you there where things are hollow
Fame (fame)

TLP, but isn't that kind of circular?

Pia, it isn't you, it's me. I was 92% asleep today.

Masil, how do you deserve swag?

Yes, Aral, this is my third consecutive Pez-inspired post. Look at the comments from yesterday and thanks for doing your part.

Eh, I guess you don't deserve it.

Famous Chatham: so named because he has outlasted many a vet's assistant, is known on sight and by sound, and is feared by all at the clinic but the vet herself. The only cat to outwit TLP - but only once.

Isn't it strange how some people can be famous and popular and known by so many others, while there are some that are not even known to their neighbors.

Doug The Una said...

Masil, I do so.

Dddragon, Chatham and Icy deserve their fame. And they alone.

Yup, Tom, I'm in the latter camp, too.

Ariel, I agree a few more famous butts with boots in them will make the world a better place, and, I might add, make great television.

Sorry to anyone who's tried to visit this site over the last four hours. I don't know what went wrong but the next time this happens republishing won't take me four hours to try.

You had me worried, Doug. I actually got e-mails telling me my link to you was defective :) (I guess we've figured out where the jump gate is...)

Famous, adj. Gifted by virtue of existence.

I had a cute little ditty prepared all about famous celebrities, and their fame and infamy, but after suffering serious Waking Ambrose withdrawl, I offer this instead...

Famous: The blessing and pressure of successful blog hosts.

Thanks Doug for restoring my intellectual playground!!! :)))

Doug The Una said...

Gabriel, sorry about that. It takes about 4 hours for something obvious to occur to me.

Sar, you may want to stay off the swings. Still haven't checked those.

a4g, heh heh, so the question is: Is something more famous if smart people know its name or if stupid people do?

fame, adj.
I don't like the adjectives they are much too difficult.

When you have it invest well and don't buy on credit, you'll be set for life, and remember
"Fame is a vapor, popularity an accident; the only earthly certainty is oblivion".

Karma, you're not many.

Dang, Alice, I thought Mark Twain was posting here. One my favorites of his short stories is called something like The Choice and describes an angel who offers a child wealth, fame, love or death. Is that where you got your quote?
