If Sarah Palin is ever the incumbent president, it is a sure sign of the Apocalypse.

It should be incumbent on all the outcumbents to get rid of the current incumbents, and therefore become the new incumbents for the new outcumbents to ....wink wink, say no more.

Cum´bent (k?m´bent)
a. 1. Lying down; recumbent.

If the incumbents became excumbents and the outcumbents stayed out then who would be laying down on the job?

That's why S.P. or another anarchist wants to sneak in and take the big prize. They think the incumbent isn't and and the old outcumbents weren't laying down enough.
I.e. "too much government" they say.

Tempest Nightingale LeTrope is a failed Victorian novelist who fell asleep after pricking her finger on an old spinning wheel while exploring the attic in what was once the Overlook Hotel but became the Netherworld hotel upon imploding into the Netherworld.

She failed at writing a Victorian novel, but is she is the ablest, best-qualified person to write the ultimate Fantasy Romance trope, 140 characters at a time

Karen, I liked your oyster comment better.
We have N.O. immitations here in the Houston-Galveston area and they are just as good, coming from the same water. Just have not so much of the Bourbon Street amibiance.

INCUMBENT, as in, if you don't come in bent, you will be when you leave?

Good word since we're about to head for another deception -- Deception Pass. Amoeba is speaking there tomorrow. I am giving the seminar a miss. My camera and I have a date with some spectacular scenery. AND, while we're away my new washer will be installed. Now, if they'd just do the laundry, too ....

Well Jim, I wasn't aware that I made my comment with you in mind. I would have commented on Jim's Little Blog if that were the case.

This the Waking Ambrose blog and I am introducing Tempest Nightingale Le Trope to other commenters, just in case they're wondering. We follow each other on twitter. It's like the "Six Degrees of Seperation" theory, as we both know Lammy. Today, Tempest believes Junior The Ho "needs to have a consultation with LORD IFFY this minute! He is the most hideous drag queen I have ever set eyes on in all my 123 years!"

Yesterday, the word under discussion was "Injury", with its 2010 Update being:

The irritant around which forms the pearl of polity. The birth of a nation.

Now, pearls are found in oysters and I specifically addressed my comment to Terry. I've been to Arnaud's and was suggesting we pretend that we were ordering baked oysters.

That oysters are also available in the Houston/Galveston area is completely irrelevant.

Thanks, Karen, I always like your comments regardless of who they are for. I wish you had a blog where I could leave a silly comment or two. I don't want to do like that on the Newspaper one where respectable people habitate.

I'd like to go to Arnaud's again. We used run over there several times a year but we haven't been there since Katrine. ;)

Mrs. Jim has relatives all over Louisiana so we need to go again to see the kinfolk in the South part.

And please, I wasn't trying to offend you, just that we have excellent oysters right here also. We even have a Brennan's in Houston. It has been on Smith Street in the Fourth Ward for over 40 years now. Our Elder Bar has lunch there once a month.

Quilly, what is the seminar about? I assume it's relevant to Oceanography. I never did ask why you both moved to the PNW from Hawai'i.

INCUMBENT, n Let's see who back in DC qualifies...thinking...thinking...thinking... This could go on a while!!

Have a great weekend :)

I don't mean to overcomment. It's rude and also time consuming. But Thom, just yesterday you wrote:

INJURY, n. - Obama's world.

Quilly - I LOVE Deception Pass! So dramatic! We became acquainted with it a few years ago and fell in love (with the pass you understand, not each other).

Doug - I'm sorry for the inter-blog chatter. The Puget Sound causes out-of-control behavior in me at times. (Plus the Bear is on his way home tomorrow).

INCUMBENT, n. One who receives a deception pass on election day.

There. Now, Deception Pass has been worked into the Word of the Day, and all the chatterers can relax.

Karen, my talk is about when sea lettuce goes bad. The PNW feels much more like home to us than Hawai`i ever did, or was going to. 'Nuff said.

Tempest, if people stop predicting doom, that might be another.

TLP, what we need is better people out of office.

And yet, boy, you made the connection yourself.

Bear, it seems like a shorter and shorter trip all the time.

Jim, you're right. There are important jobs not to do.

Karen, just a guess but you went and found all that, huh?

Jim, it takes a lot of bourbon to make a Bourbon Street.

Quilly, enjoy yourselves.

Karen, if I don't understand it isn't because you don't explain.

Jim, you were talking about oysters?

Karen, may the information you seek be yours.

Thom, don't stress the fuses.

Karen, I don't know where I could have found that out. Your like a volunteer reference librarian. And don't worry about over commenting.

That's ok, Terry. Chatter was annoying when it led to 80 or 200 comments to answer. At 15, a little flippancy goes a long way.

Amoeba, thanks. I feel like a better head of lettuce.

Dr. Amoeba,

Thank you for your link to the BBC's report on the algal blooms which may have hampered the 2008 Beijing Olympics sailing regatta. The St Johns River experienced a similar algal bloom event in June of last year.

I do hope this year lawn fertilizer runoff does not contribute to St Johns River nutrient pollution. Area residents are advised to select a "fertilizer that is low or no-phosphorous and contains 50% or more of the nitrogen in a slow-release form."

Again, thank you for your informative link.
