Force

Force, n.
"Force is but might," The teacher said-
"That definition's just."
The boy said naught but thought instead,
Remembering his pounded head:
"Force is not might but must!"
2007 Update: Along with poetry, beauty and law, one of four pillars upholding the temple of vanity, roofless.

in the words of Yoda:

"Be with you, the Force will."

(not really how he said it, i suppose, but that's beside the point.)

Force Majeure better known as an act of God.

Do a political one for old times....

44, that person in the White House still believes himself to be a foruce in everyway

His descent out of the White House hasn't yet been forced on him, and his thought process doesn't go all the way to the roof

Force the capacity to work or cause physical change.....I can do that....I make art.
*hmmm* Perhaps I should put a roof on the temple of my vanity ;?

The Force: What holds the universe together. Hi Puppy! Great minds and all that.

I had both of my girls home Friday, so I introduced them to the Star Wars Trilogy. Before we started the movie, I said if anyone tells you girls can't like Star Wars, don't believe them. I'm a girl and I loved it. (It has been said that I am at times a force to be reckoned with.)

While my little one loved the Ewoks ("little bears") best, my oldest astutely pointed out Yoda sounds like Grover and even tried to use the force to shorten our wait and move our name to the top of the reservation list when we went out to dinner.

Quoted well you did, Puppy.

Quilly, i.e. normal Monday traffic and creekside flooding.

Pia, isn't 44 Sam Brownback?

Mo'a, it'll keep the snow off your lovely work.

TLP, my Jedi narrator!

Sar, I'm glad you're exposing them to the classics. I always thought the gendering of star wars was unfair. Who in that theater could tell?

The weather forced me to be 40 minutes late for work. 40!!! And this weather is forcing me to wear long underwear under my jeans. Sigh.

The Force must be at work, I was watching Star Wars III Revenge of the Sith last night as well as those cartoons that are chronicle what happens between Star Wars I, II, and III, pretty good, I must say. Anyone else seen those?

Force,n.

The ability to mentally persuade ( preferable), or mentally coerce (second option ), and when that fails knock the crap out of others. ( Last option but used first my stupid people and stupid governments)

Star Wars came to mind immediatley, and I see that others had the same thought.

I like Puppy's Yoda impersonation. :)

Luke: If I don't make it back, you're the only hope for the Alliance.

Princess Leia: Luke, don't talk that way. You have a power I don't understand and could never have.

Luke: You're wrong, Leia. You have that power too. In time you'll learn to use it as I have. The Force runs strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. And... my sister has it. Yes. It's you, Leia.

Princess Leia: I know. Somehow, I've always known.

Hand me a tissue please. I'm overwhelmed with emotion. May the Force be with you, Doug.

Force:
Untouched, but not unmoved,
Unseen, but not unfelt,
Silent, a bit unkind,
Unleashed, and not unsmelt.

what's wrong with me? i dunno. actually, i do. pass the tissue, JD, that passage of yours has obviously put tears in my eyes and clouded my judgement.

Don't force it. Use a larger hammer.

Something forced me to return here to read what others have written.

The FORCE is strong in you Dawg. You must have graduated from Dagobah U.

Doug The Una said...

Wow, Karen. That must have been unpleasant.

Jenna, doll, you live in Canada.

I haven't seen those, Squaregirl, but you're who I'd have asked about them.

Actonbell, apparently the force isn't as strong as it once was on the weak-minded.

Cooper, the first refuge to which a scoundrel turns, eh? You forgot emotional coercion. That's a biggie this week.

Indie, it's a subtle balance. Short-changing diplomacy has a negative impact on the foie gras factories and avoiding war on the cat farmers.

Sacada, only because you're smart that way.

You, too, J.D. *sniff* take my lighthanky.

Haha, Puppy.

Amoeba, the essential truth of southern engineering. My daddy taught me that and his taught him. Kind of explains all the cars on the front lawn, don't it?

'Tis the East, G, and outsourcing the wind.

TLP, good guess. I matriculated the Swamp School of Fashion and Design.

Force is something you should never use to coerce your date into making out with you. For not only is this just plain wrong, but it will get you kicked in the Neidermayers!

Dirty Dan, go back to tabloid writing and watching porn! Nobody wants to hear your crass philosophy!
I've started a new literary game at my oft-neglected Creative Crabbing blog. (hey, I may just rename it the Creative Crabbing Blog!) Go to http://amoeboidfungus.blogspot.com to play. It's not nearly as intelligent as what goes on here or at Indie's place, but it's kind of a fun way to waste time.

What force is keeping Doug from publishing this morning?!

amen, Quilly, amen! ya took the words right outta my mouth (without force, i hasten to add... and for that, i thank ye kindly)

Doug The Una said...

Welcome, Dan. Your neidermeyers are safe here.

Cheese, now that's an art to encourage. Thanks.

Quilly, it's called tardiness and it binds together time and space.

Puppybrose, now rinse.
