sanity: a profound lack of depth

good re-definition, Doug!

Sanity - that which is lost during an illness. All fears grab hold and the worst becomes reality. Especially after 3 antibiotics!

Thankfully, the Gods have smiled on me and I am making my way back into the "normal" population. (So what am I doing HERE?) Back in action! D :)

Indie, ask the voices.

Aral, I thought 17 stars out of 5 was high, too.

Amoeba, SANITARIUM, n. Doctoral program.

I don't know, Al. Waking up sane would surprise the heck out of me.

=sanity=monotony=sanity=monotony.

Thanks, Mule. It's one of my deep days.

Welcome back, Diane. And good question.

what i want to know is this:

why does IN-sanity mean you have NO sanity? shouldn't that be OUT-sanity, as in "outside the realm of sanity"? huh? huh? huh?? which would make IN-sanity mean something within the realm of sanity?? it's crazy, i tell ya, CRAZY.

Sanity Clause, G? hahahaha!

Sanity: Lovely thought for a Monday morning Doug... jolly good of you.

sanity...

Was thinking the same Puppy...

Also, one of those "conditions" defined by subjective standards...as in crazy for me may be normal for you.

Sanity! sanity! my kingdom for sanity!

g, you can't find your soul in the bottom of a bottle, but maybe an urn.

Quilly, in or about?

Puppybrose, just out of curiosity, is that the kind of thought that keeps you up nights?

Thanks, Terry. It seemed like a whistful word for Monday and, therefore, right.

Joel, I haven't the least doubt.

Ariel, how about horse sense?

Most of the people who were elevated into sainthood, would today be considered insane.

If you understand the world today, and are still sane, you must be crazy.

I wonder about mine

I go with your 2007 update.
Here is my unscientific reasoning in a nutshell/or not....English, blogger, cell phones, call waiting,e-mail, black berry, computers, TV, TV news, sales recordings, eating disorders, star power, Bush, McDonalds, super size, action movies, traffic jams, trains, plaines and... etc., etc.,...and on top of all that Willie Hyde is missing....so yes, one needs high tollerance for madness....and word Verification

Anonymous said...

No, Doug, it's in-sanity. Trust me. Why do you think The Grownups Wanted Us Dead?

Omnipotent Poobah said...

As the Three Stooges once said, "There ain't no such thing as a Sanity Clause"...or sanity for that matter.

Doug The Una said...

TLP, that's because they're elected by a jury of peers. Same thing with Presidents.

Britney, the first step is acceptance. Well, shaving and then acceptance.

Mutha, you don't sound confident.

Mo'a it's the word verifiers.

Actonbell, that's how it was at our house.

Quill, I assumed it's because you were children and they were hungry. I forgot I didn't grow up in your house.

Poobah, and they went on to prove it. Slowly, I turn...

Sanity: recognition that aces and eights, while good, may not be enough to keep you in the game [see also: "Damn! I knew it was too good to be true!"]

call me crazy, but i miss Deadwood. is that so wrong?

Jamie Dawn said...

I love Bierce's definition! How true it is.

Last time I killed someone, I was sane until just after I picked up the knife, then I went insane for a brief moment, after which I regained my sanity. The jury believed me.

Also, I'm usually sane when I'm asleep.

Sanity, drowns out the lovely voices in your head. Monika wants to say "HI", but hadly let her type these days and then there is George...it´s getting quite crowded in here!:)

Doug The Una said...

Puppybrose "Sanity: recognition that aces and eights, while good, may not be enough to keep you in the game" may be the best ever joke about the dead man's hand. Me, too, sister. Me too.

Jamie Dawn, who would ever disbelieve a psychotic killer?

Good quote, Sar.

Minka, tell Monika hi for me. George? What's he doing in there? I see the multiples are multiplying.

*coughs*

*coughs again...louder this time*

Sanity: The unfortunate computer-generated name of the new Ford sixteen-passenger Sport Utility Vehicle.

Wasn't this yesterday's word, too?

Minka said...

al, yes I believe it was. What are you going to do about it?

Anonymous said...

Why, Minka, define it again, of course:

Sanity: Being like a whole dime, as opposed to ten cents short of one.

Doug The Una said...

Huh? Wha? Minka? Hey! Where's my tent?

Al, you're seeing things.

Minka, my viking defender! Hey, that's my cow!

Al, a nickel versus a few cents short of a dime?

Minka said...

hmm...ok,I will done too:

sanity, posting two hours late, is pushing Minka´s right over the edge!

Al, I was hoping more of a physical response from you to the dawg!

I didn't make it here yesterday because mine was not around.

Sanity: a lie we tell ourselves.

Doug The Una said...

Minka, you want me whooped?

Cooper, I missed yours.

Cheesemeister, I thought the voices told that lie.
