Clarify

On a lonesome road, One windswept day
One man came upon another
Who was wise and old and bearded
And who called the first man "Brother."

"Are you here to learn the truth?"
The bearded man inquired.
"It is best, I think, to be informed
Than it is to be inspired."

The wanderer then replied,
"I've been so long traveling
That my spirit wanders as I sleep
And reality's unraveling."

"From hill to desert I have come,
And learned so little from it.
I've come to mind a life spent climbing
Less than I fear the summit."

"Then sit down and I'll teach you
Of the many things I've found.
For I can give your spirit wings
If you'll join me on the ground."

"I'll teach you from my love of man,
For I'm a pilgrim, just like thee"
"So you are, I am certain.
A stationary one, I see."
-Jonas K. Pettiword

CLARIFY, v.t.  To render invisible.

I'm so glad that you cleared things up for me. My problem is my static butt. It's as settled as the dust on the coffee table. But if you can render it invisible, I'd be very grateful.

For some reason, this poem brought to mind The Walrus and The Carpenter by Lewis Carroll.
Here's the part that sprung to mind:

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."

Let me provide some CLARITY. I believe it was the cadence of the poem as well as its content that made me think of the delightful poem by Lewis.

clarify - To explain why what you've already said isn't really what you said.

Clarify - when I need to spray my glasses with cleanser. Hm. I should do that. These are pretty mucky.

I clarify myself and get stepped on.

CLARIFY v.t. to express one's opinion with such eloquence and/or force, that all other opinions are murdered or rendered inconsequential.

Jonas K. Pettiword: Perhaps a descriptive pseudonym of a fellow named Guod spelled backwards?
I Googled Mr. Pettiword and could only come up with your blog for today. Try it!

Oh yes, would you please
clarify
this matter for me. Thank you. (None for Pettiward, poet either, except this:
"3 Born, Coleshill, Hertfordshire: Edmund Waller (1606–1687), poet and politician. ..... 25 Born Stowmarket, Suffolk: Paul Crum (real name Roger Pettiward, ..."

..
I rather like Guod, would you consider changing? Google has found about 79,100 entries for Guod. (Only three nonsense entries for "Mr. Guod," you'd be unique still)
..

Doesn't teaching from one's love of man mean to inspire?

TLP, I can't see anything. You're welcome.

JD, I love that poem. I hope one day I finally read Carroll.

Omnipotent, this is what we do. When we run for office, it's all we do.

Jenn, sounds like time.

Icy, on a white rug it probably happens all the time.

Quilly, I can do that without speaking.

Jim, as you've probably guessed, I made that name up. Ambrose Bierce in compiling his dictionary used to make up or fake authors of the poems he included and I sometimes do the same. All writing on this site is by Ambrose Bierce or myself, except where noted and as described in the subtitle. One of my favorite of Bierce's fake attributions is here.

Doubtful, Ariel.

Quilly can't be topped

Though if a certain presidential candidate clarifies certain things will she no longer be visible?

Clarify, v.t., To remove the clumps and odd bits from a broth, rendering it colorless, mild and transparent.

Example: Many parents send their children to school to clarify their understanding.

clarify---for some it may be as simple as,,,to find enlightenment you must carry water from the well...?what do you do once you have found it?continue to carry water from the well.....for others it is simply a way to fine tune a election message...biofuel process......a constant theme when entertaining brandy.............Peace

Who, pray tell, doesn't prefer clarified butter?

Excellent, yet serious poem today.

Pia, that's a perfect example.

a4g, and for that, the schools have never worked better.

Brer Bear, you're right. Enlightenment is almost always found at the bottom of a pail.

Actonbell, ask me anything!

Cooper, I think we average out similarly. I agree about Carroll. Maybe next trip.

Billy, I'm not sure what to do about spammers who actually read.

Bear, I think next week or the one after.

Terry, those who aren't entirely sure what it is. Thank you.

There are too many words in his poem for him to be calling himself Pettiword! I say we sue him for false advertising.
