Hearse

HEARSE, n. Death's baby carriage.

2010 Update: Transportation sent for the departed.

Programming note: I am leaving soon for the Deep Springs classes of the 80s reunion. I have great intentions of posting a story in the morning and something normal on Monday but Deep Springs may or may not be on the grid and I may or may not be on the wire. If you don't hear from me until Tuesday, please only complain sincerely.

Have fun. Enjoy yourself. Tip cows. Do not come home in a long black baby carriage.

And have you ever heard of scheduled posts? You just tell them what to do, and they do it even if you're not there. Unlike children, they don't need to be monitored (except for some weird WordPress glitch while we were in Canada), but you don't have WordPress, so ... oh. Nevermind.

Go. Have fun. Most of us will still be here when you return.

Yes, Q, we are talking about Blogger here. Then again, we must remember the 21st-century definition of the sciences, fide Murphy (He of the Law):

If it's green or it wriggles, it's biology.
If it stinks, it's chemistry.
If it doesn't work, it's computer tech.

Happy reunion, Dawg.

I have to laugh at the idea of your planning your posts far enough ahead to schedule them. Sorry. But you know it's true.(At least the story-writing part.)

Hearse: Not that different from a limo hired for a prom dance.

Have a nice reunion, Doug. You can give us a count on how many passed away (hearse ride) in those thirty years. The most discussed item from most reunions is who and how many have died.

TLP, as in a High School Prom? I think every prom ever invented played Led Zepplin's "Stairway to Heaven" for it's theme song.

Well, Memorial Day Weekend has begun ... Y'all enjoy those outdoor picnics and what not. I'm sure I'm not the only commenter at this blog who will completely ignore their computer for the next three days...

**YAY!! BASEBALL GAMES AND FIREWORKS**

TLP, you saved me the comment. You know "our" son very well

[For those that do not know: TLP is Doug's Blog Momma. I on the other hand am responsible for his rugged appearance and propensity to crowding deadlines]

TLP said...

Yep, Steve. He does do that. But with his good looks and brains, crowding deadlines is acceptable.

Thanks for sharing him with me.

Enjoy your reunion time, it's best to go before the hearse comes I hear.

Sincerely said I miss the story. Not exactly a complaint. Just a statement.

Go in Peace young man. You are missed.

My sister, Lois', report:
"Twenty of us were at our 55th class reunion, thirteen class members & seven spouses.
A couple more had been at the party Friday night but didn't come to the banquet.
We've had five die (may six?) and two they knew of were having health problems & couldn't come to either."

Now Doug, we are ready for your report.
Remember I said people all know how many have died. Lois' class had less than fifty members as did mine.

Yes, Doug. We're ready for your report. Can you tell us how many of your classmates from the Deeps Springs classes of the 80s reunion have gone senile?

Thanks, Pia.

Karen, not much. Some bunny-chasing but mainly by the dogs.

Thanks, Bear. I was off-grid and there plenty of thoughts of world peace and local mayhem.

Quilly, I have heard of those and I meant to set them up but I didn't get it done. See TLP and my father's comments below.

Thanks, Amoeba.

Ariel, how's near it?

Karen, I'll trust that for an in joke. The first of many this past weekend.

TLP, I'd laugh too, except that that might be rude to Quilly.

Jim, all of my class is still alive. If you can call that living.

Karen, I nearly sinned by not getting around to hot dogs until last night.

Pops, The 39-year-old is father to the man.

TLP, you sure know how to set maternal expectations.

Of course not, Actonbell. There's plenty of persecution around to leave providers of milk and meat out of it. Patty Hearse makes perfect sense to me.

Cooper, a hearse brings you to a different kind of reunion. I left just in time. The neighbors saw a black-hooded stranger ring the doorbell with a long boney finger Friday night but they say he left after half an hour. Death is an impatient guest.

Thanks, TLP. My plan right now is to do that for the Wednesday post but you know me better than that.

Thanks, Terry.

Jim, zero dead out of twelve but very few spouses or children so we can indulge a little longevity.

Karen, most but we were pretty addled as teens, too.

I hope you had a good time. I'm still kind of disappointed I didn't get that job.
