Intoxication

Intoxication. n. A spiritual condition that goeth before the next morning.

2005 Update: A temporary allocation of moral, rhetorical and political superiority. Distinguishable from election by the duration of elevation and consistency of cause.

Big News!!! Sar now has her own website, Belle of The Brawl. Kinda hafta love that name.

but sometimes i'm afraid, it hangeth over

Eloquently put, Dddragon *hic*

Lula, it probably depends on what Shrewish means. I'll look it up and let you know.

All the best things do, Karma.

intoxication~ an altered state of consciousness most often brought on my alcohol, pheremones or power.

now that i'm under the influence of alcohol, let me help you with that, D. a shrew is a small rat-like animal. i can tell you, if any shrew here throws herself at you, i will tame her by giving her 100 LASHES!

intoxication--this is difficult because of its simplicity. Don't want to be too clever or too witty or too stupidly intoxicated with my ability to do either.

I love your definition. Nothing can top it but the hangover certain people might feel

Doug The Una said...

Ariella, you left out existing as a dog.

Karma, that would be an eyeful. Shrewish apparently means intractable so, Lula, the answer is yes for now...

Pia, it always seems that way when you've had a couple.

intoxication,n. sufficent lubrication that can turn absent, silent and introvert people into teh wildest party animals.
Intoxicated like hell at the age of 14 can make you sidestep that landmine in the future;)

Does punch drunk count? I'm so intoxicated with giddiness today over the start of my fledgling little blog - thanks for the nod and support, Doug. :)

Intoxication: A state I'm absolutely afraid of. I rarely drink. I had a drink when I was on vacation with my parents & bro, and I also took some sips of my mom's mint julep. So, I guess that amounted to about a drink and a half. I had trouble saying the word "asparagus" and they started cracking up. My mom said, "Jamie needs another drink." I knew right then that if I drank another or took any more sips of others' drinks, I might not be able to walk out of there. Scary stuff.
There's this stuff they give me before surgery that makes me woozy. If I could get my hands on that stuff, I'd probably be an addict. After they give me that, I don't even know what asparagus is, and I certainly don't have to worry about walking out of there.

intoxication is a board with "INTOXICATION" written on its one side and "PAY!" written on the other.

Doug The Una said...

Monika, the affect is only obvious in the very, very wise.

Enjoy, Sar. I think we're all thrilled for you.

Jamie Dawn, I have the same aversion although it isn't out of reverence for asparagus.

Yup, Sreekesh, Bierce was a sharp dude and knew of what he was writing in this case.

Ariel, that's stunning. *deep bow*

I know what the word means, but I can never remember if I actually achieve that level.

Maybe I should cut back...

Intoxication: State in which, under the influence of a stimulant such as alcohol, poetry, or blogging, one enters into "engaging banter and the healthy challenge of intelligent debate," or imagines one does.
Just kidding, Sar. I'm sure your new blog will be soberly engaging. Good luck.

Doug The Una said...

Naw, Fred, I bet usually you stop one short of the epiphany.

Omnipotent, Poobah.

Weirsdo! We do not treat one another with sarcasm on this site! Oh, wait. Yeah, we do. Hahahaha.

Sar said...

Weirsdo - English is a language second only to SARcasm for me! You must bring your witty cleverness & come comment on my little blog that could. And don't worry, Doug, I can share.

Is one intoxicated "with" something or "by" something?
Well, no matter what one has been intoxicated with or by, one will not be in one's right mind and may make decisions worthy of a good butt kicking. Las Vegas drive-through weddings come to mind.

That woozy feeling I get when I'm in the presence of a great looking man who knows how to flirt. Hey Doug thanks for the Internet hugs. I appreciate them.

Doug The Una said...

Sar, I never fretted a moment.

Darnit, Jamie Dawn! That was my only shot!

How about portly half-breed hounds, Liz? Tell me the floppy ears don't getcha. I just call 'em like I see 'em, by the way.

i'm raising a fluted glass filled with bubbly to Sar's new blog. goes well with pancakes

Doug The Una said...

a4g, I've never been drunk enough to marry, so I'll take your word for it.

Cheers, Karma and Sar.

Thanks, Actonbell. To be fair, I wasn't hung over when I wrote mine. I've spent a lot of time on the Blake site. I think I even tried pushing it on your niece at one point.

Intoxication: a temporary poisoning of the mind, the spirit or the senses which often occurs after a religious ceremony, a drink or when in love. Do not be concerned it all wears off eventually..

same thing everyone else said but different words. One track collective mind s .

tlm said...

Intoxication= 1/2 a bottle of good red wine, or a full bottle of the cheap stuff. And then the clothes come off, and the neighbors complain, and then it all goes downhill quite rapidly from there.

Also, I love the word goeth. People around here say gits, which isn't nearly as nice sounding.

GABRIEL C. ZOLMAN said...

Intoxication, n. A heightened sense of senselessness; a chemical wedding, wherein the philosopher's stone results in stoned philosophers.

Doug The Una said...

TLP, saying it out loud is a little like touching your fingertip to your nose, isn't it. I mean, I've heard about that.

Yup, Alice. Getting to the center of tootsie roll pop takes longer in my experience.

That's why I do my drinking indoors, TLM. Great to see you, by the way. To your health!

Gabriel, I would have wept a week if today's post had gone by with your input.

Intoxication- Vodka lemon derived amnesia arising out of subject shrieking like a chimpanzee in a very busy flamenco bar in Madrid, puking guts out in bathroom while large woman pounded on door, and being dragged home as she tried to join the ranks of hobos and tramps by joining them for a nap on the streets of Tirso de Molina, Madrid.

Intoxication- State of bar owner who offered above-mentioned subject a drink after the previous night's chimpanzee spectacle.

Vodka lemon and chimpanzees... a deadly combination...

Nice, Aral. Biercelike. Those guys

It does make a nice alternative to affection, doesn't it, Rio? And with fewer side effects.

Indie, whoa!

I know, Masil. I read your blog. You're funny enough sober that I won't discourage you.

Miz Bohemia!!! Nice to have you visit. Vodka Lemon and chimpanzee is something I bet you can order in West LA. Funny!
