When we consider the human condition
We might fear we've become inorganic,
Preparing our blogs' latest edition
And typing through our social panic.
From the forest we've come and to daisies we go.
Like veggies, we strive in between.
A GPS system and keyless car doors
Come complete when we try to go green.
Fruit can be found on store-shelves.
The sour, young lemon is found in the lines
That poets still write to themselves.
So it's not that man's nature has been suppressed
And it's not that our future won't fit us.
When you wake up and before you get dressed
Tell yourself "I am good enough citrus!"
NUT, n. The fruit of either a tree or the land of the free.

hmmmm, metaphor: "sour young lemon" well, kind of young, anyway. XOXO
What?
nut,n: look in the mirror and you'll see a fruit cake!
One day she left without a word
She took away the sun
And in the dark she left behind
I knew what she had done.
She left me for another,
It’s a common tale but true.
A sadder man but wiser now
I sing these words to you.
Lemon tree very pretty
And the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon
Is impossible to eat.
Kinda the way I feel about the nuts who are running these Untied States about now ...
It was a sour day,
In a lemon sort of way.
A bit of rind, a bit of seed,
And puckered all the way.
It was a nutty day,
For Blogger, any way.
Refresh to 404's and 505's,
My Blog just would not stay!
Well that was refreshing in a fruity sort of way (once I made it through all that refreshing of the blogger server).
Pfew.
Took myself to the picture show.
Sat myself in the very last row.
Put my arm around my waist.
Got so fresh I slapped my face.
N-U-T-T- nut.
Grrrr -- blogger ate part of my comment!
I'm a nut. I'm a nut.
I'm an N-U-T-T- nut.
Which is much better then being what blogger is.
Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.
Le'mon: The man, in French and Scottish. I am multilingual.
very funny poem, Doug!
I don't care if from the tree or the store-shelves, I love my lemon mature.
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Banana
Banana who?
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Banana
Banana who?
Knock knock.
WHO'S THERE?
Orange
Orange who?
Orange you glad I didn't say banana?
As any fool can plainly see, today I feel like a nut. I'm sure you see.
Citrus and nuts...
I could talk forever about these because we used to grow mandarins, and my mom handles nuts daily.
We were always striving for better citrus, and my mom is always on the lookout for better nuts to handle.
Note of caution: Do not peel a mandarin and then touch your eye. It burns.
Note of caution #2: It is nearly time for the CA almond growers to shake their nuts. The nuts fall to the ground and are then gathered and sorted and sent to cold storage. The growers are very edgy and short tempered at this time of year. You've been duly warned.
Mireille, would "early onset lemon" have been more appropriate?
Minka, I didn't know fruitcakes had barbecue sauce on them.
Amoeba, you topped me but good. Is that meringue?
You too, Morgan. Say "lemon" and the world puckers with you.
Ironic, isn't it, g?
Quilly, you're a poet. Well, and a nut.
Nessa, and both your tongues stay sharp.
Ariel, don't you find the mold adds even more flavor?
TLP, I know the symptoms well.
Thank you, Jamie Dawn. Glad I decided to fly home from Sacramento. I thought about swinging home.
Doug, barbecue sauce tastes like a good killing but mold adds the flavor of eternity.
zswrgzc - Doctor Zhivago went for my Prozac
I'm an acorn, short and round,
Lying on the cold cold ground.
Everybody steps on me,
That is why I'm cracked, you see.
Called myself on the telephone,
Just to hear my golden tones.
Asked myself out for a date,
Said be ready 'bout half past 8.
I'm a nut.
I'm a nut.
I'm a nut.
sorry... but your fine poem and this particular word cracked me up. then i noticed Quilly had launched into the same ditty that popped into my fragile little mind, and i figured you needed this part, to complete the, um, silliness and/or insanity. ; )
So I just learned the truth, all the Fruits and Nuts come from California...and some of the poets reside in Maine.
Ariel, you expect Lara to believe that?
Neva, I think it suits us both.
Right, Mo'a. And the flakes are here, too. That leaves New Jersey as the Valley of The Dolls.
If by "poets in Maine" you mean 'the amoeba', we should set the record straight on two counts.
1. Quilly and I are off to Hawai'i Friday - Maine no more.
2. The Lemon Tree song is by Will Holt, not me. (I must be showing my age, it was one of my Dad's favorites; Peter, Paul and Mary covered it.)
3. And the nut ditty from Quilly and Puppy is a well-known children's song.
i think your words are wise,
if not alkalinizing, Dog.
become the lemon tree
you wish to see in the world...
and sometimes, offer others
a nice cool glass of lemonade.
There is no topping what is above except to put it on a cake.
INGREDIENTS
* 1/2 cup butter
* 2 tablespoons lemon juice
* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 3 cups confectioners' sugar
DIRECTIONS
1. Combine the butter, lemon juice, vanilla, and confectioner's sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add more confectioner's sugar, or lemon juice to adjust the consistency as needed.
Nuts are optional.
Puppy -- and OC -- thanks, I couldn't remember the rest of the words.
Cooper -- around here the nuts aren't optional, they're abundant.
" If life throws you a lemon, throw it right back. Harder!"
It says so on my fridge and I don't know how to argue with that!
re: "can I be a better citrus?"...
how 'bout i put de lime in de coconut, and drink it all up? i mean, will i then feel better? thinkin' i just might! ; )
glad to help, Quilly -- i cracked up (heh) when i saw your comment, because i'd forgotten that part of the song!
You're a good academic, OC. I'd have given you credit for The Lemon Tree song, although I wondered who "she" was. Certainly Quilly is no unfaithful lemon. Saltana, maybe.
JJ, as long as people can do without sweetener, I'm happy to. Alkalinizing! Nice!
Cooper, nuts may be optional but they're easy to come by.
Minka, I never argue with the fridge. It's the closest I have to an assistant.
Ah, yes, Neva. I remember that post. That's a good one.
