Gratitude

Gratitude, n. A sentiment lying midway between a benefit received and a benefit expected.

2005 Update: The foam shed by a wave at the tidal edge of an ocean of gravy.

Happy Thanksgiving, glorious friends.

Gratitude: the feeling I have for all the friends that I now have via the Blogsphere.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day! For those who don't celebrate Thanksgiving: have too much to eat and then watch a sporting event on television. If a parade sponsored by a large, old department store is available, watch that, too.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Doug. Your definition is beautiful, inspirational, and appetizing!

I'd like to express my gratitude to Doug for providing Waking Ambrose, my intellectual playground, and to all of you, my Waking Ambrose playmates, for all the engaging interaction that always ensues.

Happy Thanksgiving all! :)

I got myself a rasberry pie at my bakery, so I am with you all in spirit. Happy Thanksgiving everybody and a great holiday season to all of us!

And it's going to be a heckuva wave here today. I can hardly wait for the bird later on.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Dddragon, Sar, Monika and Fred: a wonderful day, full bellies and no more than 45 seconds of quiet reflection. And thanks.

Monika, Raspberry pie counts as a cranberry sauce substitute not pumpkin pie. I'll email you a slice later. You'll see.

Oh, and Karma, thanks and thanks for a year of laughing and learning.

How come people name their daughters "Grace", "Faith", "Hope", etc. and "Gertrude", but never "Gratitude"?

Great definition, Doug. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

I have gratitude for the warm chair I'm sitting in with AP3's lap top where it should be, on my lap. She has made a fire in the fireplace, just put on a Johnny Mathis Christmas CD, and her spouse is busy in the kitchen cooking the feast. Ah, gratitude!

We even have snow, which I love. I brought my boots with me, 'cause I'm no dummy. Mostly I have gratitude for my family, and that all are well and well fed.

I have gratitude also for you, Doug, and for those to whom you have introduced me.

May you have the very best of Thanksgivings!

Too funny, Aral. One that point, why does no-one name their daughter "Snippy?"

I miss snow, TLP, and likewise. Today I'll lift the gravy boat to the Pezes and their matriarch.

Usually my definition of gratitude is the feeling I get when Thanksgiving Day is over. But you've so touched my curmudgeonly heart that I'm now grateful for all of you.

I give humble thanks for one and all.

gratitude, the warm sense of well being engendered by being surrounded by those who have prepared vast quantities of food.

Also found by locating like minds, thanks everyone, you brighten my cyber days!

Special gratitude to Doug, what a great idea this was, and executed beautifully.

I had to pop in. We travelled all day yesterday to spend Thanksgiving with my hubby's family. We will be gorging in about two hours from now. I can hardly wait!

I would like to express my gratitude to Doug for insisting that I mentored him, when in reality it was the other way

Gratitude...kids, the husband, kid's kids, the kid's dogs (that one is for you, son), TV blasting in some too-close-by-room where the menfolk are sleeping to the roar of the the feetsball crowds, savory smells, late arrivals, early arrivals, seconds and thirds, broken diet promises, small talk, occasional big talk, looking at the faces of my family and extended family, imagining the faces of family and extended family not with me, strangers invited for one meal a year ('cause that's what Thanksgiving is all about and, of course, never invited again), The 59% of the American public who have given President Chaney a vote of no confidence (sort of) and to all of the wonderful, exceptional friends of this blog, Happy Turkey Day and thanks for continuing to encourage my most incorrigable son!

Gratitude: Two found.

1. What I feel towards Doug for such a mentally stimulating blog and also for being a great friend :)

2. What the Iraqi people feel towards President Bush.

P.S. The second phrase is the sarcastic version of gratitude by the way ;) See rage.

Jamie Dawn, don't be stingy with it.

Pia, you're too generous but thank you.

Mama, thank you for the whole birth thing.

Alice, you too, sugar.

Mireille, she's only two hours south of you and could probably use some pointers on perfume. Zockso!

Marwa, I knew if you hung around here long enough we'd find the sarcasm in you! Thanks for being a friend and writing so well.

Masil, I pity any virus that needs to get at me through the stomach. Thank you and I hope there's enough kimchi and fried turkey to go around.

Thanks, Asiansmiles. And to you. You landed in the right part of the States for it.

Gratitude: a conglomerate of "grit & attitude", meaning the ability to state bold, obvious and even ridiculous lies in such a way as to make it seem like one actually believes them.

Yeah, I guess being here after a while starts to show on one :D

CA, and measured in small increments.

Lula, even to me that falls into the "ew" category. Well done.

Manchego, what a treat. You're being here, not tofurkey. Welcome. Any friend of Aral's is a friend of mine.

Indie, I think you put way too much effort into your gratitude. Sincerity's just the thickener.

Ah, Marwa, another lost soul, courtesy of Waking Ambrose.
