Book Learning? Really? As opposed to school of hard knocks?

I'll stop questioning and just defer back to my contribution to yesterday's word now.

Doug? I respectfully submit that your updated definition more aptly applies to the phrase BOOKS LEARNING, an essential first step towards mastery of the art of numismatic cookery.

BOOK LEARNING, phr.. In the computer age, the concept that, notwithstanding the cost and obsolescence, induces people to live "buy the book", and thus keeps the likes of Barnes and Noble in business.

didn't you mean to say "Book Larnin'"? yeah, i thought so.

Book Larnin': the lessons sans experience that have no meaning and/or application... until they do.

or something like that. thanks to book learning, i used to be fairly smart, but then i discovered the wonders of the internet, and succumbed to Wikipediocy. d'oh!

make that "Wikipidiocy".

Douglas, I will never, ever, judge you by your cover

qrqprzza: the queen wants pizza

Perhaps YouTube learning is more appropriate. Or, how to tell the sheep from the goats without lifting their tails.

nbbzgp: nibbles gorgonzola pizza

Dogs read with their nose. Interesting stories out there. And butts are fascinating! If you are what you eat, the truth comes out in the end!

Book learning will just lead to yearning, son.

What did you say? I just had my nose in a book...trying to keep up with you and your learned friends.

They must be book learn..ed as most of the time I don't understand them...heard that is what book learning does to/for you.

book learning phr. significant augmentation of one's intellect through copiously perusing intellectual tomes and cognating upon the pontifications within oft time expands one's comprehension beyond the norm, thus rendering one unable to converse in any congnizant or meaningful style with members of the general populace.

Apparently a small one, Minka.

Sar, the difference is one is found between hard covers and the other, soft.

Amoeba, the internet is, I have recently discovered, a multi-level marketing scheme for the paper industry.

Neva, books are just alleys for agoraphobes.

In other words, Pia, the portion of the cost of higher education paid by the student.

Karma, that's really for the best.

Sheep from the goats? That's easy. The goat is the one outside the pen.

Icy, you mean a vapor edition?

G, thanks for the advice, old gal. So does looking at pictures.

Mo'a, book learning and pretense aren't the same. No, wait, I take that back.

Quilly, by that you mean ∂X=∂3(sqr. πY)?

Book Learning: an educational method favored by kids and adults who are afraid of other people. See "Spoon feeding". By "Magadog"

Poobah, writing is the communication between two inanimate objects.

Maga, do you have any idea how worthless Google is for finding someone with your name? Email me, dude. (Click on "View My Complete Profile" for the address.)

My booklearning summed up:

Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the French I took....

Sad news.

Mine is like blog learning. That's as far as I go these days.

Books are dangerous.

Magadog say "No se, tu "complete profile" no tiene su email address, pues email a me en "jetaj98@yahoo.com". Vaya con dios, Dougie.

Happy song, though, blogmama.

Cooper, in a previous age that was called "pamphlet learning," I think. Books are only dangerous in the hands of someone who knows how to use them.

EJ, Herr Wass ist gemütlich in Himmel daß du jetzt Espanischen sprichst. ¡Lo hecho, amigo viejo!

Book learning: something of which I've had to do entirely too much. Book writing is another entirely fearsome story.
