Book Learning
BOOK LEARNING, n. The dunce's derisive term for all knowledge that transcends his own impenitent ignorance.
2007 Update: The method of education that teaches the art of fraud and the science of forgery.
Doug? I respectfully submit that your updated definition more aptly applies to the phrase BOOKS LEARNING, an essential first step towards mastery of the art of numismatic cookery.
BOOK LEARNING, phr.. In the computer age, the concept that, notwithstanding the cost and obsolescence, induces people to live "buy the book", and thus keeps the likes of Barnes and Noble in business.

Cooper, in a previous age that was called "pamphlet learning," I think. Books are only dangerous in the hands of someone who knows how to use them.

Book learning: something of which I've had to do entirely too much. Book writing is another entirely fearsome story.
