bow thee down in humility to some
principles that fill an innocence pie
and endorse thy better, higher bunkum
Should all the sins of my neighbors cease and
desist, yet will i denounce the cowards
love for exotic spite and grief and sand
that we send heroic soldiers towards
yea, though i walk through exalted valley
i shall fear no law nor strange allahu
but love my country with all my called lust
and leave my virtue outside the alley
to do in dark what thou hast me to do"
his golden words he shed like scraps of rust

ambivalence, n. two wagons of mercy, parked at the republican convention. one for mccain on the stage, one for nader heckling in the balcony.
e. e. cummings (the father of text messaging) is guilty of a capital crime.
ambivalence: Wow, you are fiesty today! [Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary -- "2: having or showing a lively aggressiveness : spunky (the movie's feisty heroine>)"
ambivalence: Fiesty souls have trouble with showing ambivalence.
ambivalence: With the upcoming election it is hard not to be ambivalent.
ambivalence: I'm not ambivalent about the author of this poem, is it you? It is a neat poem that makes one think.
..
Amoeba, you never it never once occurred to me to think of Cummings as the father of text messaging but you're right and I'm glad he's dead.
Thanks, Jim. The author is and isn't me. Last week I rewrote Ogden Nash's Love Under The Democrats (or Republicans) to make fun of the Democratic convention (Waking Ogden?.) This week I'm updating e.e. cummings' unpunctuated sonnet. With Joe Biden as the Veep nominee, I'm trusting plagiarism has been downgraded to venal.
Dogs are smart because they first smell butts. because that's where they are really talking out of.
I think I'm going to wait for TLP.
Am a February(leap-year free) behind...so its first draft or none at all...As I mine the infrastructure of the lyre,no oath taken to the magnificent laureate,no order to follow,i owe no ovation, though my logomachy may stir a ruckus among the practitioners of gentleman/gentlewoman ways, there is no mendacious claim to a genteel nature,my liberty is garter to gypsy ways,an orphan to convention, some to wonder of ambivalence, questioning the guinea-pig under a gimlet preference, rather then a gent with a hovel in hades............................PEACE ALWAYS Bear
"This is my song, O God of all the nations, a song of peace for lands afar and mine. This is my home, the country where my heart is; here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine; but other hearts in other lands are beating with hopes and dreams as true and high as mine."*
Whenever I hear the Republicans yell, "God Bless America!", I want to correct them to "God Bless the Whole World."
I have no ambivalence about this selfish group of people.

Icy, also everything relevant comes from there.
Ariel, you were hoping she'd define "sex" again?
Brother Bear, that was some outstanding catching up and while I was trying to channel Cummings today, you manage every time.
Nice quote, TLP. But I thought you were an atheist.
Ouch, Actonbell. My apologies.
I am an atheist. (You know that.) If I had written that piece which I quoted, I would have used a double letter o. Good bless the whole world.
Republicans are too ethnocentric.
After watching this Republican Convention tonight, I am sick to my stomach. Ambivalent organ - can't decide whether to digest the most excellent anniversary dinner prepared by my Bear, or spew it out in discust.
I am of two minds in regard to this word.
A great time for a perfect definition Doug.
Amen to the poem.
;)
Drat ole e.e.
TLP, I'm not sure the ethnocentric charge is fair but I'm not a member.
Terry, politics should never interfere with a good meal.
Thank you, Quilly, for making a reference to today's word.
Yeah, Cooper, I notice there was a strange absence of Cooper commentary last week when it was the Dems turn.
