Obstinate

OBSTINATE, adj. Inaccessible to the truth as it is manifest in the splendor and stress of our advocacy.

The popular type and exponent of obstinacy is the mule, a most intelligent animal.

2009 Update: Partial to a previous conclusion.

nice update, pascover.

How very obstinate of you to bring a mule into the equation, when I just recently questioned the presence of a camel on this blog :)

Penguin, we have all manner of fauna on this site. Most of it obstinate.

Wouldn't even try, Quilly. Won't even try. Shouldn't you be swimming?

Logo, I'm guilty but curious.

Ariel, Actonbell will be so glad to see Monty Python here.

Minka, there must be a fable of the penguin and the fox, mustn't there? If not, check back Wednesday.

Let us travel back 32-ish years ago when an adorable little brunette was getting the verbal smackdown for something that she allegedly done. And was told to "behave". Not that she misbehaved...halo! Said adorable little tyke gazed up at her bearded father, wrinkled her freckled little nose and said, in a rather obstinate voice according to her mother, "Say please."

It is a miracle this child lived to 36 according to her mother as her irate father turned and walked away without killing her.

I wasn't obstinate. I was just demanding good manners. They were always telling me to say please!

".. just a flesh wound." Thanks to Ariel for reminding me of that funny movie!!!!

I remember a segment about the word "obstinate" on a children's show. I don't remember if it was Sesame Street or what it was, but I remember watching it, and it made an impression on me. It was a funny segment.

It'll sink in eventually, A-bell.

Fair is fair, Jenn, except in the hands of a little girl.

Yes, of course, blogmama. Did I say otherwise? Of course not. No, not at all. Why are you looking at me that way?

JD, for some reason the word reminds me of the "Ladies first" segment of Free To Be You And Me.

Saurkraut, there's hardly an animal in the menagerie that hasn't been a symbol of the neighbors.

Cooper, the obstinate 20-something becomes the pragmatic 30-something becomes the acerb 41-year-old.

Fine, Karma. See if I care. How are you?

Ariel, stop encouraging that obstinate woman.
